JohnDeere Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Deal done with Aston Martin on an Alpine. Given that at least one of the speakers in the Prelude has a loose connection or is out of phase, it's needing sorting. I think it'll be an easy mod to put a 3.5mm jack input for modern choonz. And this will look (and sound) a million times better than the modern Panasonic jobbie that's currently installed. Aston Martin 1

Aston Martin Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 4K 300inch tv/radios are sold out... I have one left, but it's soo stupid I may keep it, Which one of you lot is going to get that screen 'working' first?
HH-R Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Is that a Kenwood, I have one in my MR2, id buy it off you if you're selling. How much is the Alpine? It looks like it, an expensive unit when new if it's the one I'm thinking of.
anonymous user Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Which one of you lot is going to get that screen 'working' first? Well I reckon Hirst will beat me to it, but I have managed before with my out of date tvs I have a digi box which has a coaxial output, rather than scart, so I reckon with one of those little inverters which will give 240v from the car 12v supply theres a chance. So another car needed now obviously (that's what I will tell the wife). Aston Martin and face 2

Aston Martin Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 Do those Alpines illuminate in a green hue similar to that of a Panda dash? I would assume so, but not sure.
BavarianRetro Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Put the Alpine on at £199 and it'll sell in five minutes. £299 might take a week or two, but it'll go at that too. flat4alfa and Aston Martin 2

flat4alfa Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Really? Sounds like my boxes of old Kenwoods and Alpines and Matsuis are worth more than my house.
BavarianRetro Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 They were pretty close to top of the range in about 1990. Brand new old stock will be sought after for restorations of late 80s early 90s Porsche, Audi, Mercedes, BMW etc. £200 no problem. Kenwoods can be valuable, Alpines are usually sought after. Matsuis are cheaper than bubble wrap or polystyrene chips as packing infill. nacho man and flat4alfa 2
flat4alfa Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Hadn't thought about the chequebook restoration angle.
BavarianRetro Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 These Continentals are quite good. Modern, USB, Aux in, Bluetooth etc., but look very much in place in old German Dahboards. http://bavarianretro.com/blog/?p=380 Aston Martin and Lacquer Peel 2
HH-R Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 The Alpine unit does look top drawer. I can just about hear the air of quality from the tape mechanism from here. Too salty for my crap C-90 "N-Trance - Set You Free" tapes, though I do want it. If you can get good money for it then go for it! nacho man 1
Aston Martin Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 The guy who instabought the 99.99 eBay one, wants the best box. Wrapped in cardboard and then bubble wrap, he's a collector of them. Which is an expensive hobby I bet.
Aston Martin Posted May 20, 2016 Author Posted May 20, 2016 Has no girlfriend shockerHe's helped me out, so leave my new best friend alone. In other news the stupid Yoko's weigh more than 2kg. flat4alfa and DeeJay 2

Aston Martin Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 Some have arrived apparently, now it's a race for the first guy to fit it into an FSO!!! (A J-Reg Proton would also be sufficient.)
Tamworthbay Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Mine is here safely, I am sad - I just love the thing, it's even better in real life. Do you have any left? a mate is interested in one. Aston Martin 1

I have one, however, I think i'm going to keep it. I'll never use it and I know I'll never find another.
Tamworthbay Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Don't blame you, as you say you will never find another. If you change your mind give me a shout. Aston Martin 1
flat4alfa Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Yoko Oh No has arrived! myHerpes in fully-intact delivery shocker. Mind you, so it should, as it was packed up tighter than Barbara Whitehouse! Excellent. Cheers! strangeangel, Conrad D. Conelrad, Lacquer Peel and 1 other 4
flat4alfa Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Found this out. It's from the JC Whitney catalogue 1985, so I assume it will be NTSC. On the upside, the ad implies the composite video jack is two-way Also found it had further rebranding in the US and South America as the Mustang ORTV-900. Mustang Electronics Inc is still at 11W 30Th Street, Manhattan, NY (area is known as 'Korea Town' today). They were manufactured as P/N A2-01208 by Daiei Electric Co, Tagawa, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Head office at Shingawa-Ku, Tokyo. Had a go at wiring it up on the dining table but couldn't get life out of it. Clock I expected to see going but it seems to insist on a switch put in circuit to emulate the column ACC and IGN settings as it's been designed to not allow TV display while engine running (GR3 for Siberian roadside breaks). Took lid off and it's a hand-soldered analogue dream, more like a 70s set. There is some brass in there too. Will take another look later. trigger, strangeangel, anonymous user and 3 others 6
