I'd turn up with a load of actual pound notes as in the note version of the coin. He's probably sick to death of people saying 'swap2nite for feather edge fencing and a Kenwood Multichef. Pik up with cash £3.89 you wont get ne more I kno wat these cars are worf'

Last car I sold I just got the cursory text saying simply '£150' (car was on at £300). Nothing else. Just '£150'.

The only way to find out is to buy one. Looking forward to the collection thread already.

*I've only read the first two posts if you have already got it.

Potentially ruinous? Ah, that's one reason then...

Why is everyone so down on that lowered XG30 on RR? How hard would it be to try it out and swap for a set of standard shocks / springs if it didn't suit?

Someone put an arse shattering quartet of Spaxes and cut springs on my first Piazza and I had them changed for not that much money.

Conor says:

Super smooth/boaty. Mitsubishi V6. Pretty reliable. Always need discs and pads.

Impossible to get spares, even from Hyundai.

He had to strip and repair the drivers electric seat buttons.

My Aero, when it began making bad noises from the flywheel, was put up for sale with 3 months MOT and a frankly head-in-the-clouds asking price.

I had no calls or texts or nuffink in two weeks.

I paid £20 to risk having a fresh ticket put on it, and it passed with one advisory (never have I been so nervous).

I put it back up for sale with a slightly reduced asking price of £1250 and an advert that shouted about the fresh ticket.

Within 40 minutes the following text exchange happened:

"£750, pick up 2 day."

"Hi. No. Do you know how much it is being sold for?"

"Ye £1250. £750 2 day."

"What is your reason for haggling off £500 without seeing it?"

"Pick up 2 day."

"I don't need to sell it today. I'm in no rush. I am happy to wait two weeks, by which time you might be able to afford something much closer to the asking price."

"I pick up 2 day as I desperately want turbo car."

"You desperately want a turbo car? Price has just increased to £1,350."

Radio silenced followed.

I sold it two hours later for £1,100 to someone who turned up with cash and who had a family of mechanics.

Is that the maroony one on Ebay with the landrover thingy bob alloys in Bristol?

I have been drooling over it ever since buying the Magentis for our Lass, and discovering what a bloody good car they are - seriously decent barge, ridiculous for the money :-D

^thats the one,

nice car but shit wheels and cut springs......

plus is in friggin' Bristol!

Mmm, yeah, those things are impossible to sort, aren't they?

It's amazing - there are loads of cars I want that aren't where I live! I mean, how INCONSIDERATE are those sellers, the jeb-ends!

It looks ok to me, would have to drive it to know if lowering is a bad thing on them, but you're right, fucking Bristol, what's that all about then?? :-D

I was out and about today, so I took the number with me and rung about the XG with the intention of viewing, even took my camera.

The phone conversation:

Me - Hello mate, have you still got the Hyundai XG for sale?

Him - Yer, where are ya?

Me - I'm in Elm Park at the moment.

Him - Well, can ya ring back in about an hour, I'm out.

Me - Can't do that, it's either come there or go home.

Him - Well, ya gonna have to go home then, I ain't there.

End of phone conversation.

Now, if that were me, a motor trader sniffing what could be a 400 quid deal, I think I'd have said something like:

'Start making your way down to the yard, I'll see you there very shortly'.

So, the XG is still available if anyone else wants to take a peek. Good luck pinning the bloke down though.

The one on the Blue Forum looks great, even with the LR wheels. I don't think the springs would bother me either.

Sold on ebay I think trig.

With cut springs, I'd be constantly worried about those speed tables.

I bet exhausts for those aren't cheap.

Get the first flight over, but he probably won't be there.

By the way, where did your tag line come from?

Looks like it has something to do with Pepys.

Must keep my eyes open for one of these.

Wetted my appetite now.

Otto Jespersen's "Growth and Structure of the English Language," yanno loike innit eh? Soz I forgot which page, but it's on one of 'em...

It would have to be a better car than a Hyundai for me to hop a flight, anyroad. Maybe an XJ40 in its natural habitat...

I like these. The one on RR very nearly had me as a new owner until I got an insurance quote for it... about £600! I was shocked.... the Bentley even now on 'normal' insurance is only £300.

I don't know how places like this stay in business treating potential customers like that.

There is 400 quid just 20 minutes down the road but the seller clearly has loads of people lining up to buy his tat. Hence the AG30 is still for sale...

I went and viewed this today.

It started very well, ran whisper quiet, and had a fabulous heater.

The damage on the bonnet is worrying. Try to find a replacement.

All the tyres are good, but one is flat as a pancake. 205/65/15.

The wheels could do with a refurb.

The interior seems to have had a hard life for its low mileage. The drivers door panel seemed to be coming away at the front, and some plasticky piece to do with the parking brake has broken off. There's no handbrake lever on these, so I presume the parking brake is the same as the Merc.

I did notice a small third pedal on the left of the footbrake pedal.

If it were cheaper, I might have a bash at it, but that bonnet is going to need a bodyshop.

Very short mot too.

All bargaining points I suppose.

All the toys seem to work.

Didn't take it for a run, it was buried.

Yeah you done well to leave it with the dealer I think mate.

Yeah, bet they're few and far between in the breakers.

An unloved 15 year old Korean super saloon with a 2 week MOT for £400? Blimey, maybe there is some export value on these.

Anybody else fancy one of these?

I found another one. It looks like the only other one advertised in the UK.

I contacted the dealer, and at first it looked like we were going to do a deal with my V70, but now he just wants a straightforward cash sale.

I can't get to Wimbledon for at least a fortnight, so I thought I'd bosh it on here.
