Unfortunately, will be on a trailer. No registration, last TÜV was 20 years ago...

Does this mean it's been off the road for 20 yrs?

Wow. How did you find it ?

He didn't, they find him now.  Pshome is a Tagora singularity.

Arrived on time, sometimes Deutsche Bahn does work quite well..

The place is St. Ingbert, a few miles from Sarbrücken. Michael already waiting at the station with car and trailer.

First stop is at a  "second option" just in case the Tagora is much worse than expected.

Sun is out, nice, but known to be a negative impact factor... experience proofs, good cars are never found in the sun.

Good looking autobox 505 TI with rare factory aircondtion.

Its actually not good, rust all around the doors and sills, covered by a quick paint job. Sun roof not closing properly ,tons of water inside the body for sure. Nice interior. Car is overpriced, didn't even bother to to have a look under the hood.

Ok, no second option (did we really want one?), lets move on and look at the Tagora.

yes, dry, not outside at the spot its now. One owner since new....

At a first glance, nothing fundamental wrong with the car.

post-5425-0-04082600-1453390729_thumb.jpg

Been sleeping for 20 years, moved from the dry garage to this place a few weeks ago because the ownership of the garage changed and they didnt want it in there anymore. Bit of rust at the rear doors, dent in the passenger side front door. Exhaust rusted away, mirror broken, no surprises here.

Engine not seized. Will it run? To be seen... no reaon it should not. Everything is where its supposed to be, no bits missing, nothing tinkered with or modified, even rolls and brakes.

So we haggle the already very reasonalbe price down a bit, hand over a few green ones and up on the trailer it goes.

Shame about the Peugeot and it's weird looking wheels, that colour is perfect for hiding all sorts of rusty sins.

And I'm complaining about having to get up before noon on Saturday...

Lads, I realise who is a hero when I see this.

Going all the way to the rucksack Germans, aka rubber French, to collect a bloody six cylinder Talbot, of all things rotten, is the stuff of legends.

Bowler dutyfully donned, sir!

Time to have a closer look at the car;

We kept it deep frozen over the night for optimal conservation.

Trunk is full... what can we find here?

5 steel wheels
post-5425-0-04181400-1453467302_thumb.jpg

and 5 nice original alloys

These wheels really look good at the car... but the last time Michelin made TRX tyres in that size was 1989. Don't really feel like driving a car that does 200 km/h with 25 year old stone hard rubbers bound to explode. We still have a set of 505 alloys... that will do.

Moving on to the other end of the car.

Everything is there, no bits missing, no apparent damage.

There is no water in the radiator, leak or just emptied by the previous owner?

Let's take off that filter box... what a pleasant view!

What is this? Potatoes, dino eggs?

Tuns out, just pebble stones. More odd things found this side if the car:

the others are OK.

Overall verdict: good car, needs a bit of work but not a lot.

Next step: clean out the engine department a bit, check oil  and ingnition, then feed some fuel to the carbs and see if it starts, but not today.
