Would there be any interest?

I don't want to start a full blown for sale thread yet, as this may not happen.

I'm currently eyeing up a phase 1 V70 T5, and am going to speak to the seller today.

It's a high mileage thing, and a tad biffed about, but I really must scratch my T5 itch.

So, would anyone be interested in the current Tetley conveyance?

It is also a phase 1 V70, of 2.5 20 valve flavour. I've had it since last March, and it really has been a reliable old thing.

It's an auto, in a sort of smokey silver with full black leather trim.

It now has the later XLT? five spoke 15 inch alloys, although the originals are still here if required.

I've replaced a fair few parts on it as and when required, and would you believe the drivers door lock buggered up this very morning. This will be fixed before (if) I sell it.

Registration is P274 DWL, so you can check the mot history.

I was thinking around the £450 mark for it, it's worth it all day long guv'nor.

It was very dusty when I took those pics. It was at the height of last summer, in a dry, dusty field, watching an airshow.

No raffles - sorry.

Alternatively, if anyone has a phase 1, S or V70 that they wish to dispose of, gissa shout please.

I think these early V70's still look really smart for what is now a 20 year old design.

Thanks chap.

The door lock just started working again.

A build up of muck in the barrel methinks.

Just needed a little love and more WD and 3 in 1.

I've got a new aux belt for it here.

Timing belt due about now-ish.

I've also got a brand new uprated dipstick and tube for it here.. The o ring on the current dipstick is worn out and is letting in cold air, which then translates to mayo on the stick. Common fault with the older V70's. The new dipstick and tube will cure that. Rest of engine is fine with no trace of mayo.

Here's a pic I just took of it with the later alloys on it. Bloody filthy, but it ain't getting washed in this freezing weather.

It's a looker. GLWTS.

Also, that top photo is a candidate for the "Cars and Girls" thread if ever I saw one.

The one in the pink top is Mrs Tet.

I'll show her this, that'll please her.

OT: who's the bod in your avatar, LP?

It's Jack Decker of the eponymous series Decker, a daft low budget spoof of patriotic war glory films and TV shows, he's like Donald Trump if he was a CIA agent. I think it owes something to the baffling films of Neil Breen as well.

I like these and reckon they're invisible to many given the very low values. I bought Vaterfdb a diseasal one a while back in A1 order. Slightly homespun if you're used to Aldi/M'Bends/other generic modern crap but that gives them character, they manage to feel both old-skool and modern rolled into one. Odd dynamics for the Volvoid brigade coming from leaf springs and all that Volvos used to be - these feel like they'd be more at home on a track. A set of sensible tyres (195-65-15) gave the beast better real-world roadholding. The best set of seats since I had a Saab 900, awesome radio and wood bits which look like they may have descended from a tree, unlike others.

Yours looks fine Tetleys, plus it has the earlier box which doesn't need £20/litre fluid and presumably none of that ETM and other nonsense attached to the later S1 petrols? Could be interested in the spare set of wheels if they don't go with the car. Overlooked cars, highly-rated by those who've had them. BLWTS.

No, none of that fancy electrickery. Proper throttle cable. That's why I prefer the older cars.

I'm getting old and far too sensible. I checked out the mot history on the T5. Advisories for trailing arm bushes (bastard job unless you've got the Volvo tool), oil leaks, yes the plural - leaks etc etc. I didn't phone about it. This old girl has really spoilt me to be honest. It's used half a litre of oil since last March. Water level doesn't move either. Looks like I'll be hanging on to it for a bit longer yet.

Forddeliveryboy, I did put the wheels up for sale when I bought the later ones. Didn't get a sniff here or the Volvo forum. Christmas was upon us then, so I didn't push the sale.

I was asking 40 quid for all four.

If they're round and 15" then I'll def buy the old rims - see PM.

Time to resurrect this thread.

I'm looking around for XG 30's now.

Going to call about one in a mo, although I won't be heartbroken if the V70 doesn't sell.

Seriously tempted, I've had an 850 before and I'm really not happy with the Beetle. Hmm.
