The tyres ive put on are off a citroen Dispatch Van lol. its the only car/van that uses them now!

I seem to remember these Carlton's have a different stud pattern to other 4 stud Vauxhalls.

Car tyres?! You're doing it all wrong, get some 8 ply van tyres like I've got on the Commodore!

Same on my AMC - only thing that gets close to the sidewall height of the original crossplies.

Due to foreseen weather failures I havent had much time set aside for this turd. The tyres are all shit. And they arent even the right size. 175 80 14. SO ive bought some very good 195 70 14s for the back so far. Sorry pictures crap, so is the weather and light :(

Oh and I moved it to the other side of the drive so I can get it up on ramps to weld the exhaust.

Then I decided to have a poke at the o/s/r sill at the back. Spotted a crack when I bought it but.............

Oh dear.....

Cavalier Replacement sill from erm Hadrian will provide the repair section you need.

I used an astra sill for my mx5 repair.

Nope they are all the same. I nearly put some manta alloys on but didnt have the balls. lol

So. Today the snow came and settled but buggered off once it knew it wasnt claiming anything. When I got home from work I set at it.

The exhaust blows bad and the rubbers had dropped off, exhaust hanging down.

So I got the grinder out.

Then the welder came out

And now photobucket has failed.

I'll try again tomorrow.

Many moons ago when I was an evil banger racer I found that Cavalier wheels didn't fit 4 stud Carltons, well, they did if you drilled the holes out a bit.

Like I said, it was a long time ago, and may have all been a dream anyway.

You bad man, I bet you didn't steal cortina's though

Nope, too many £20 Bluebirds and Cavaliers around.

Right. So ive not been able to get on for one reason or another.

Where was I?..... ahh yes...

One job on the list. sort the exhaust out. Blowing and fallen off. Welded a hole with some pigeon shit and fitted some new rubbers.

When rehanging the centre box, I could smell fuel .

Glad that started leaking only when I jacked the back end up.

So had to sort that out in the dark ..

And now its snowed and its too cold outside to be crawling on the floor. Next job, sort the handbrake lever out. Cant push the button to release it. :?

I hope you remembered to clean the metal on the pipe where you attached the earth clamp?

Blimey that fuel pipe could have caused some issues with a stray spark

Posted

of course I did. And i rammed that earth clamp in there good n proper to give it extra earthing abilities YO.

Been tinkering today. (Had the day off due to crushing a finger at work) so i pulled the handbrake lever out.

Had to remove n.s.f seat to gain access to lever bolts after undoing cable underneath.

Found the reason the button wouldnt press in. All the years combined with a lot of silicone based shining products have swollen the end......ooo eerrr.

So it got cleaned up and freed off. But had to spread the handle a little for it to work properly

Then cleaned the carpets up once refitted. Works a treat now!

Grainy iPhone picture makes it look 80s. lol
