Replacing the Octavia - New work Daily needed.

The Rank Taxi is due an MOT shortly, and is not running at all well. I shall be sending it to the retirement home forthwith.

Nothing in the current fleet is servicable as a daily, bar the 335. CX is next closest but still a fair bit away.

I can utilise public transport util the new year, then I'll need something that does the following:

Costs sub 750

Be reasonable to insure for Business use

Readily available spares/service items

min of 35mpg on the Motorway

reasonably practical (4/5dr if poss)

Spirited performance as standard, or easily attainable

entertaining to drive

not much to ask eh?

I know you folks will not fail me -bring on the suggestions!

please put info in posts, rather than just links - my phone takes ages to load ebay/gumtree etc!

In the meantime I'll faff about with the CX and the 320:)

cheers

Ford Escort mk6 1.6 zetec. 2000 model. This car has had the same lady owner from new! 41,000 genuine miles. Mot until may 2016. Ideal if your looking for cheap reliable transport, with none of the costly modern car issues to worry about! I.e no stupid sensors, or expensive dual mass clutches etc.. It's 100% dependable, returns great mpg, and is very easy to maintain. Interior is superb with no rips, tares, or burns. (Never been smoked in) Recently had tyres, and a new exhaust. The bodywork is excellent for its age.

Gorebridge, Midlothian

£395

Watch out for them dual mass clutches though...

Beko, awa back te yer hoovers ya bam;)

I can vouch for a 6N. Not ideal if you need space though. The one to get is the 1.4 16V for performance, tax, and fuel efficiency. Sadly most 16V models have been yobbed, might be difficult to find one.

Saab ...you know it.... easy 225bhp with a bit of chip manipulation.... 5 doors hatch etc.... special price for you!!!

Had a 1.9d that is now with Richard of this parish.

As you say 1.4 16v is probably pick of the bunch!

The 1.4 16v vw is a terrible engine !

Never said it was good- just thr best of the 6n:)

Xm 2.1 for veg ness, then you can say you own 2 generations of citro luxobarge.

They both may work at the same time in the same week occasionally too!

Or just get a wbod with a long test and think about it next year?

Ordinarily I'd agree but tbh with the work plus fuel issue it can just get replaced!
