The van been bought by my mate. The plan is now to get Vectra done. Mate sorted tax an insurance on van and said I can use it if needs be. Fetching bumper for vec, wheels etc

Mate sounds a decent sort (apologies if my previous comments sounded a bit harsh), was a bit concerned he was pushing you into the Escort purchase. Good to know you've got use of the van as an option, fingers crossed your situation improves now. Good luck!

He knows my predicament and I need a vehicle. He just wanted an excuse to go doing carboots again!

I'm guessing your insurance agent is on here, seen your track record and thought sod that!

Escort vans are OK apart from rot, I like mine it makes me drive sensibly. I can push on a bit in a fast car but in the van I just put the radio on and chill out.

Only things that tend to kill them are rot and bust cambelts. Never seen a Bosch pumped one but they probably exist

Can you argue that you're not a trader as your cars are only worth £200 each so a trader's profit margin of 20% isn't going to get you far?

Without wishing to get involved in the main argument, I don't think escort vans are ever veg friendly.

As the situation stands I'm not bothered if its Bosch pump, veg oil friendly or anything. It just has had a splash of diesel. Its going to be used for parts fetching etc this week and al being well the vec will be up and running. Its not cost me anything,my friend has said I can use it as and when. Its had a couple of patches on sills but seems generally ok if a bit sluggish.

They can be, the NA engines are available with Bosch and Lucas pumps. The TD is never veg friendly.

Escort vans are OK apart from rot.....and bust cambelts.

And the original wheels and tyres (12" 13" ?) are crap in the wet, especially when empty. Most people put larger 14" (15" ?) wheels and tyres on so that it behaves better.

Mine is on 14's now off an Escort Ghia and handles surprisingly well

Due to lack of power I tend not too slow down as much as I should for bends.....

Mine is Lucas pumped but doesn't mind 50/50 mix of WVO / diesel

Here it is after one of those ' you'll never fit that all in there m8 type comments... post-19511-0-82973900-1448914340_thumb.jpg

It may not cost you anything up front, but these things are usually borrowed on "bend it, you buy it" standard T&Cs
