Tim, I think you need to return his A-frame with an 800 attached.

Just roll up to his unit the night before his return, unhook from your motor, and speed off in a cloud of veg smoke.

Good idea that.I bet he wouldn't be able to resist fixing the head gasket so I could just return the following night and drive off in a fully functioning Rover.

Just to add some closure to this thread (better late than never), the Rover was collected by copart. Was utterly gut-wrenching to see it go, but at least someone would have been offered a chance to take spares from it. Out of interest I looked it up the week after it was taken and it was advertised on their site. I was pleasantly surprised - they only got it running! I'd love to know what they did differently that I didn't do...

See here for the ad: http://www.copart.co.uk/uk/Lot/37910525

Looking at that it did sell and someone will at least be able to salvage parts from it, am I right in thinking that's the case?

There were a couple of members who were interested, but both had to bow out due to personal circumstances. Not to worry, they did their best!

RIP N385 BHE.

Now to update you on my current "fleet" dilemmas...I'll start a new thread for the latest goings on.

I might be wrong but i think you can buy running cars from copart and put them back on the road. Your old ones still not mot'd.

No, you're right. Both them and U-Pull-It sell working, registered cars as well as salvage/parts strippers.

I think the retail value of £800 is wildly optimistic. You'd be well into Rover 75 money by a good few hundred. As much as I like the 800 if it was a toss up between that and a 75 for £800 I'd have the 75.

Copart had a knackered SD1 Vitesse a couple of years ago with a retail value of something like £6-8000 !!!

Obvs that is utter bollox as it would need to be really nice and almost mint for that money, not rusty and dis-used for many years.
