a friend of a friend asked me to help find a new home fo her dead brothers Capri, it hasn't been on the road since 1991 but it's garaged, immaculate, seriously immaculate, original and the engine turns, 72k, the very nice lady is looking for offers above £1000 and I think it's realistic, it is only a 1.6L but that's its charm in my opinion, what do people reckon?

Put it on 'Old Skool Ford' or similar and watch as a bunch of self-employed stella-swilling block-paved-driveway tradesmen try to rip your arms off to get it. Anything tidy and with a blue oval will be making the dollar.

I'd prefer a meaty one myself, although I think a mint pov spec Capri is a rare & interesting prospect so if I was in the market I'd take it on as an additional Capri to preserve in storage whilst I'd race around in the meaty one, pref 3.0S!

You could try Affordable Classics - it's a 'classic' dealer specialising in old Fords, naturally in Essex, seems to get a lot of low mileage stuff in. The cars are VERY expensive (£5250 for a cortina 1200 Mk1, not concours or particularly low mileage either) so maybe he pays good money. http://www.affordableclassics.co.uk/I'd try and get an Mot on it before selling though. There is a place in sheffield as well, Spurr Classics I think, reputedly sourced the LoM Cortina.Failing that stick it on the 'bay and let the timewasting commence......

Man! That appears to be a honey!Concur that it should be MOT'd before selling commences. I'm thinking Ford mags + Practical Classics ads myself.

Well it's not mine, I'd like it but can't offer the money I think it's worth, I agree with an MOT and tax it'd be worth more but I'm not in the position to give that much help so I'm hoping someone will take it on at an honest price

Try to delve into the history on this one. It has a Dagenham reg on it, and it's a rare colour for a Capri....normally found on XR3s of similar vintage and Fiestas also.....Get it bought, and make it perfect, and run it, you know you want to!!!

That Capri looks nice, I'd take no less than £1700, but advertise for £1900-£2000.Nice colour too, shame someone will most probably turn it into a fake 3 litre.

Yes, you could well let (Un)Affordable Classics have a slice of the action, like paying a grand or just above for the car and then advertising it a week later for £3750

That looks almost showroom from here only trouble is, I'd be afraid of using it on todays roads especially in ASDA's carpark where some Saxo sporting oik or ignorant old fart would probably open their door into it on purpose, 'Sorry mate, didn't see you...' some people just don't give a toss!!!Buy it, mothball it and bring it out again in 20 years time so that kids today who drive Toyota Prius's in the future will stand gawping, open mouthed at it and say to themselves 'why don't they make cars like this anymore..?'
