Aren't these things worth about a million pounds on the Californian surf scene?

I have a cunning plan to make a lot of money on an exchange deal.

Now, I just need a couple of 745s and start heading north

Restored they're running £9K-15K, probably more in the German market. Even with the parts costs, that looks sound and complete enough to be worth spending on a restoration particularly if the car really is essentially free.

My sister traded her Allegro for a KG k00p. From that day every second sentence she said was 'should have kept the Austin'.

I shit you not!

.... &me... 'Should have kept the IMP' ;)

It's not 110% signed and sealed yet... hasn't stopped me getting recovery quotes but aye, not quite there yet...

It looks un-messed with, therefore worth it even more.  The only thing worse than fixing these is fixing them after someone else has "improved" it.  That looks mostly original other than the colour, go for it x 1,000,000

I had two Karmann Ghias in the early 80s (and in the Paisley area too)

Unfortunately, I didn't know I had two until I went through a set of four new tyres in about 4 weeks.

Only after a bit of an examination to establish the cause of the tyre wear did the second one become apparent.

I'd check they weren't made into a convertible as well.

Where is it? I might be able to get you a decent transport quote.

Well, since you are now rich no matter how you look at it, you can always flog it and buy an Allegro.

And a Bentley Turbo R. And go on a 3 week holiday to Southern France with the latter.

Yeah, that's not an original colour - the 70s were crazy, but rarely Metallic in the VW world. I wonder what colour that was originally since even the engine bay is painted..... my ex's Beetle was painted a smilar shade, that turned out to be a Vauxhall colour I think.

Edit: I can see Orange on the engine lid spring and the firewall.... Amber maybe?

Ravenna Green is very in-your-face

You've still got my number I'm sure.

Just reminding you.

No real reason why.

How many Volvo's could you buy with the proceeds of selling one of these?

/note to self: buy a Volvo before they all end up North of the border.

SISTA_IN_LAW_RML2345 took one look and said "that's Vauxhall Carribic blue". I think she may be correct.

Nope, she's not right.

This is Vaux Caribic Blue:

It looks a bit more turquoise / green than the Vaux colour.
