Lexus is200. Good or bad

Son no 3 has agreed to buy one of these (for around scrap value) but intends to run it as a winter snotter , as its ticketed till next year.

 

I've been asked my opinion - & to give it the once over as its likely to be infant transport; but I currently have no view/ experience, as its way too modern for me.

 

So my questions are what do I check for?

 

Are they as bulletproof as the 400 or dressed up rotters, please?

 

Running gear ok, or can I expect all sorts of pain?

 

What's easy,what's difficult? Expensive/ cheap etc etc.

 

I'd really welcome the input as I suspect I'll be overly familiar with it shortly!

Electrics seem a bit hit and miss (from what I've read) and wallet lightening fuel economy. My neighbour loved his but couldn't afford to run it.

Every year when the SNOW CHAOS is on the news its always a beemer or similar slithering sideways at 3mph with the rears spinning trying to get up a gentle hill.
