At Chasewater Railway on Saturday, a nice owd giffer with a Mazda Bongo Friendee asking for directions to Bridgnorth got us thinking about our next day out...

We could do the auctions first... or we could spend all day playing with steam trains!

They're doing diseasels as well, if you're that way inclined (filth!)

Bub - stand down, panic not, this is a suggestion for the ASMM New Year's Day Experience.  The clue's in the thread title...  ;)

My phone doesn't show full thread titles if they are long. My apologies. Thank you fir clarification

Steam trains merely turn water into hot water. I've got a kettle that does that.

Diesels turn DINOSAURS into BEAUTIFUL NOISE. That's magic, as Paul Daniels once said about something unrelated.

There's a Deltic in the diesel gala this year. 55002 in green, no less.

Bridgnorth has a chip shop, a pub that serves proper beer and a cliff railway too. What's more to like?

A date, a date, my sanity for a date!

Well, this probably makes more sense than my own idea (see News thread). I think I'd rather pick a station and stay there rather than ride the line though.

January 1st.

January 1st.

At least it'll be open then, unlike the usual cafes. I would suggest Bridgnorth as the go to station. Plenty to see, somewhere to eat and, if I hadn't mentioned this before, A CLIFF RAILWAY!

Why did nobody say anything about the cliff railway?

Steam from Bridgnorth at 1020 or 1220 Zulu.  Agree with DW's very accurate implication that going all the way to Kidder would be disappointing...

Sir, please Sir!  Can we go in the Sideboard, Sir?  Can we, Sir?!

The only slight issue I have is that it's the day after New Year's Eve, which probably means going to bed a few hours before I'd need to get up. On the plus side, no morning-after effect for me because I don't drink!
