Got to be over 20cms here....

Mark.

Thats quite an impressive dusting.

We had about a centimeter which has mostly gone, and the stuff falling now isn't settling.

I've got the day off - so I dont care either way  Bring it on!

I am watching the ITV sensationalist tripe news....again citing £1bn costs.... and my 'chaos'-o-meter has gone off the scale with the over use of the word. Twunts.

Local councils to offer free snow handouts to Lithuanian migrant workers AND THEIR FAMILIES!The communities secretary Hazel Blears was under pressure to resign last night as news emerged of plans to provide additional free snow to UK regions with high concentrations of probably ILLEGAL migrant workers from other godforsaken, corrupt corners of the freeloaders' gravy train and inane 'directive' factory that is the EU. The snow, which would be financed by a major tax hike on wheelie bins of hard-working families across the UK (who are currently strugging to pay their morgtages due to the ongoing financial crisis caused by the 'bonus culture' of greedy bankers who must now be punished to death), will be manufactured by long-term unemployed dole bludgers in an attempt to boost job numbers and stamp out Rip-off britain's sicknote culture of drunken yobbery and youth gang knife drugs culture of shame & guns. Under the scheme, dirty, thieving migrant scutters who feel that the snowfall around their 15-bedroom country manors provided FOC by the council is inadequate for their raggy-arsed kids to play in, will be able to phone an emergency hotline and request a delivery of new snow. This will then provide an unarguable excuse for not turning up to their job at the chicken factory despite having the latest top luxury 4x4's, mobile phones and widescreen tellys. A spokesman for house prices said the proposals could potentially cost the average british taxpaying family a whopping £30,000 of money they never actually had in the first place, and that it would put back Britain's joining of the Euro by up to 170 years etc etc etc etc.

I would laugh at that, but I'm worried it might be a direct lift from the Daily mail!

Carrying on from what Mr Sacks was saying; My missus reckons Vince Cable was on the box telling the Government they should force all old cars off the road so folk have to buy new cars to stimulate the UK motor industry. And I don't think she was making it up.Perhaps he thinks we should also demolish all buildings put up prior to 1980 to help stimulate the construction industry?Anyway - back to the snow....

Well, this was the state of affairs here this moning:

Caught the bus to the local out of town retail graveyard of closed down shops

Posted Image

Bus trundled down road at 15MPH, though this may be down to totally fecked stagecoach suspension that resulted in fillings being shaken loose over speed bumps.

Bought Belkin N-Mimo Wi-Fi started kit from Currys, oddly the cable version was £48 whereas the ADSL one was £104 - for what looked like the same thing. Came home moved computer into extension, set up new wifi - and it soars compared with the old set up.

Had breakfast in McDonnalds (shh, dont tell the wife) then waited forever for the stagecoach bus back home after waiting forever for the bus to come.

Ground to a halt? Dont be feckin stupid.

No, very disappointng. One scabby Mk 3 golf and the rest was a mixture of Clios and scrotes / Foci ( plural of Focus?) Oh and a mixture of RoC builder vans, all modern mercs. Car park of monolithic shopping complex similarly dull with only a modern Fiat 500 to float my boat. Possibly the oldest shitest thing today was the DAF bus.

Must be absolute chaos..headline item on the news here

I had a day off today, rather unexpectedly! We were on our way to work, (I was getting a lift with my colleagues until I get the R9 back) when this happened....

We had just left the roundabout & joined the next section of dual carriageway, building up speed, but possibly only doing about 30 when we lost control, the car started to slide but then for a split second I hoped & thought it would right itself, but instead we carried on sliding, I was praying for a 360 to carry us right around but instead we careered straight across the outside lane & straight into the central barrier. Fortunately there weren't any other cars immediately with us so we didn't take anybody else out at the same time! It was 8am though so the traffic soon backed up, must have been plenty of witnesses! No casualties, just some aching necks & probably a nice bruise on my leg in the next day or two! The car doesn't look to bad considering the dent we put into the metal barrier. It was like a much louder, more extreme version of being on the dodgems!

So yes, as I was saying, been home since about 11am since without immediate access to a courtesy car there wasn't really an easy way to get into work. Bit of a length to go to to get the day off though!

The snow hasn't been thick down here, but it's certainly made things very treacherous!

Well, that's what you get for DRIFTIN :) Glad you're OK, Reg.

Bad luck Regie! Car looks pretty sound considering, looks pretty fixable!Just went out for a drive around the estate, it's pretty impossible to be honest, looks like the snow has subsequently turned into ice. At one point the road was so icy I had to get drive up onto the snowy pavement to get more traction. Conclusion: Work can bollocks.

Snowed a little bit here last night, then froze. I was out in the S Type-240BHP+RWD+Autobox=sideways! Managed to get up to the local petrol station and bought 4 bags of coal. Sill wnt sideways. I hadn't had that much fun since I had the Rover V8 powered mark 2 Escort!

So school was shut again today. But on the plus side I drove right through the middle of London on the C-charge free route to go and work on my Oxford. Traffic on the totally snow free roads was so light it could have been 8am on a Sunday.:D

I had a great monday....was at my parents in Hampshire as the 323 was booked in for the MOT at my mates garage in High Wycombe.Got up to see the 6 or 7 inches of snow on the car/roads etc and heard them bleating on about stay at home unless it's essential you go out...well, my MOT was essential for me!Mazda fired up straight away, I left at 10.30, crept out of the estate and got to the main roads and did the 35 mile trip in 45 minutes, it usually takes....45 minutes!! Roads were empty and it was just like driving in the rain, no problems whatsoever.

Some MOTORING CHAOS made its way up here this morning. Somehow I managed to get up, turn on my car, drive up my steep driveway and go to work 40 miles away. I was a bit excited by the snow though, so forgot my lunch and PPE. GR1 WORK
