Not much to add, really, to Stanky's full report.....Apart from the fact its a good job the Morris has disc brakes....

Was tempted briefly by the C Class cheapness but only for as long as the bids took to go from £300 to £310.   Probably not a bad buy but not even a blind bloke would have felt the paint job afterwards and said "yeah, that'll do..."

That first Mondy estate to go through was indeed £130 with a slightly dog-eared front wheel arch...Sounded smooth enough.   The bright red Ka looked rustfree and well worth a punt, if only to shrinkwrap till the scene tax kicks in when all the 17 year old girlies who learnt to drive in 'em have become 40 year old career women.

Its the same old story with cheap cars, though - even the modest price of the C Class would be enough to make a major improvement or two on my 190E.

41000 mile MGF with what appeared to be a new roof and evidence of gifferish ownership clearly worth more to the vendor than the £500 high bid (as well it should, really....) and there was a tidy Berlingo Multispace thingy with the flip flop sunroof.   Think that finished unsold at around £650.   Some of the stuff might have done better with a clean but I suppose in some cases that might have shown up the time-line of sill weldage.

Still a good way to spend a couple of midweek evening hours - laughing at other peoples chod safe in the knowledge it hasnt just become our problem.

So, shall we organise another outing chaps? Life for me has been extremely hectic lately but its calming down soon, in fact, monday the 4th would be perfect for me, will have been paid by then too - is that any good for anyone? Failing that when is good for others?

Right, now that the evenings are a bit lighter and whatnot, shall we arrange another auction outing soon? When would be good for people? Thursdays are better than Mondays for me - though can do either with a bit of notice.

Any takers?

Thursday's are good for me too.... and a fiver less now because diesel..... :-) might even get to drive back through the forest in daylight too....

How about the 5th May? I'll have been paid by then and have the Nissan for the day so can cruise there in style* and you can all admire my sick* ride.

Rostered on lates for that day (9pm finish) so prob not....However, my shift pattern would rival a P38 for reliability at the moment so y'never know.....

5th works for me ..... *cant wait to see the Almera :P

At least you won't be able to hear me coming from the M27 due to gearbox whine this time!

Look forward to seeing the new PT too.

Any other takers for this coming thursday? I'll head down straight from work and aim to be there for about half 6.

Posted

Just booked in a catch up with a friend in need on Thursday, but if plans change I'll be over.

Posted

Cannot make any of these dates but hope to join you sometime!

A journey south may happen again at sometime in the future. Preferably with company this time.

Happy to bump it a week if thats any better for others? What does the 12th look like for everyone? Or we could go completely mental and see what Mondays are like?

Posted

I'll head down there on Thursday as originally planned, I'm in the Nissan anyway and no-ones home in the evening so I have nothing better to do really.

If thats not a sound reason to come down then I don't know what is.

"apathetic man will be there as he has nothing else to do"

Dont think I can get out of work before 9pm on Thurs....However I am on early 12th so can do that if anybody goes.

Right, are we up for this tonight? MOT test KAOS loomed but I think I can drop the Saab off this afternoon instead of this evening for its test tomorrow and make it down in the Nissan for half 6 or so.

I can't print the auction fun packs today but would be good to have a mooch, especially as the evenings are a bit warmer and lighter now!

Chaps,

Another outing? when is good for people? Last one with Doobie (in lo-tech "new" dall of shattered dreams) was good, plus there is now a great spot to hide to get good views on the lots but out of sight of the block so we didn't get heckled by the auctioneer!

There wasn't anything blindingly shite that I saw, but Doobie witnessed a tatty-but-not-beyond-redemption wedgy Suzuki Swift 1.0 which went through for ten quid. It may have even had an MOT on it, for the price you couldn't go wrong.

And/Or - Hovercraft museum one saturday soon? Not next sat but could do another without a problem. £10 I think on the door.

Evening all,

Any appetite for another outing to SMA? I can do either this thursday (16th) or the following one (23rd) as a dismal alternative to watching Jon Snow and his swing-o-meter at home, while frantically updating the EU thread?

Exciting prospects for thos who've been before, there is a new layout with MOAR places to hide from the heckling now.

Wolf mentioned the other day that we'd not had an outing to the auctions for a while, and just read the post from Danthecapriman that he'd never been to an auction before (since he's local-ish to me) so wondered if there'd be any interest in another visit to the hall of broken dreams?

Thursdays seem to be better for me, and traffic is a lot less bad during the school holidays so some point in the next couple of weeks? Perhaps the 25th August or 1st September? 1st Sept would be better for me as I'll have been paid by then but can probably do either if I can shift a mower between now and then.

Doobie, I know you said you were frantically busy when I saw you earlier in the summer, are things still much the same? Mercrocker, might you be interested? Partridge, now you're back in the 'hood?

Of course, all shiters welcome. There is food and whatnot available both there and nearby and plenty of stuff to do in the vicinity if you wanted to make a day of it.

25th will be difficult on a domestic front but 1st Sept looks viable for me at the mo.....

I'm up for it! Just depends on if I'm working or not, which I won't know until the last second. Would be good to give the Jaaaaaaag an AS airing though.
