Midlands Italian Car Day (MITCAR) 16/08/15 - My pictures

Now then Shiters. I went to MITCAR on the Sunday just gone.

This year it was held at Deene Park near Corby. I went down on Saturday afternoon in the Panda 45 and spent Saturday night at relatives between Corby and Kettering.

All was going well until I came off the A1 at Stamford and turned onto the A43, up into second and promptly lost all my gears... :-(

Had a look underneath and one of the selector rods was hanging down. The 30 year old plastic cup that one of the ball joints sits in had collapsed. I managed to get a zip tie round it and get off the road to a lay-by, where I could get more zip ties round it. This done I carried on, had a nice evening, but before I left on Sunday borrowed some tools and wire and tied it all round the linkage. This got me to MITCAR and eventually home...Just need to fix it properly now...

It was a good show I thought. A very good mix of the new and the old...

The following are pictures that may be of interest...

Wow. I looked at the dash and could see it through the window so assumed it was original. Looked a treat.

Great set of photos, thanks for posting :). I was there in an Alfa GT Blackline ,we parked in the overflow field, and you've certainly captured the atmosphere. I noticed your Panda, same colour but a bit earlier than one that I missed by hours about this time last year :(, but didn't realise that it was yours.

I drooled over that 90 V6, but didn't notice the briefcase, I was moving on to have a good look at that suprb Alfa 2000 Berlina (now moved several places up my want list :) That Fiat 500 Giardinera (sp?) was tiny; we passed it on the A14 on the way there and it was dwarfed by the modern 500 it was in company with :o

Other highlights for me were that OSCA, first time I'd ever seen one, let alone a coupe, the Alfa  1900 (the mystery black car) and the group ofAlfasuds, nice to see so many immaculate rust-free ones.

Me in a Multipla diesel.

Ha. I'm sure I saw a pre-facelift Multipla in there somewhere, just not in any photos. Whether it was a diesel I know not...

If it has wheels and is Italian, then it gets in...Demz da rulez...

Strada Cabrio - who knew?

Italian cars are an itch that I need to scratch soon.

I hope by next year my Alfa 33 QO will be back on the road

It doesn't look much different to that old picture of it.  If only I could get arse into gear and stop buying motors that need attention instead.

Maybe we should run a book, to speed things up
