purplebargeken Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 In a convoluted threesome involving Billy, Daniel (stillOrange) and myself, the obtaining of small Triumphs has occurred. Daniel bought my Toledo, I then in a fit of complete logic* bought the green Dolomite vaguely belonging to Billy. Daniel kindly roped in a local transport person who gave a competitive quote, services were engaged and that is where it has gone all Pete Tong. Delivery person made Daniel aware kind of last minute that his mode of transporting things was in for repair and that he would inform when it was not broken. Seems like he is now saying that it may be not broken sometime next week at the earliest. This has led to much unhappyings. Looking at Shipley but I also wondered if anyone on here fancied the challenge which is to pick up a green Dolly from Ellesmere Port, take it to North London, then take white Toledo from London to Daniel in Manchester. Job jobbed. Please form a disorderly queue :0
Cavcraft Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Ken, I've messaged Daniel just now, but just in case he's busy or something it's probably best to give the garage a call as he did mention going on holiday for a week soon. He seems a decent bloke so I'd humbly suggest giving him a bell and letting him know the script.
purplebargeken Posted July 29, 2015 Author Posted July 29, 2015 That would be a grand idea. Cheers mate
tooSavvy Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 [in the manner of a balding plumber....] 'draws air in over teeth'..... "Err... Nope!" TS
stillOrange Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Original plan was for me to drive the Dolly for an MOT down in London and then drive the Tolly for its MOT in Manchester.Unfortunately busy work schedule messed that up.Ehhh all that wait will be worth it....
purplebargeken Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 Daniel kindly spoke to Jim the garage owner this morning (I couldn't as had gob surgery). The Dolly has to be moved by the end of next week at the very latest. Daniel is looking to maybe move it to his garage but obv the car will have no tax or MOT. I just wondered if a local Shiter who has a trailer or trade plates might be willing to trundle it from Ellesmere Port to the garage in exchange for beer tokens. Hopefully Ken
purplebargeken Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 Daniel said the garage were fine but said that the council may be the ones to lift the car which makes me even more nervous. Is anyone able to help? Please!!!!
purplebargeken Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 It is a 40 mile journey from the Dolly location to Dan's garage if that helps.
Cavcraft Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I can't do anything until a week on Monday, and even then only if I can borrow a trailer.
Station Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I have an A-frame if you need it. I'm about five miles from Ellesmere Port. I may even have storage space (but will need it shifting asap ).
stillOrange Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Would you be able to store it for up to a week?
stillOrange Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Or even better, would you be able to dolly it over to Wigan - Manchester?
Pete-M Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I can't do the London bit but can possibly shift something around the Wirral if needs be. Have to be after Monday as there's a car on the trailer at the moment.
Station Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Would you be able to store it for up to a week? Up to a week is no problem. A-framing terrifies me, and I'm bunged up with work for a couple of months now.
Cavcraft Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 A-framing terrifies me Pah, WCPGW? Oh yeah andy18s, Pete-M, beko1987 and 4 others 7
purplebargeken Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 Cheers for that Billy. Station, I haz sent you PM re: A framing rescue bid much happiness episode. Pete-M, could we perhaps look to you as potential back up?? Thanks hugely guys, much appreciated Pete-M 1
Station Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Got your PM! I was about 5% tempted, but seeing that photo from Joe, who is very much a veteran of a-framing and towing through the hilly roads of Yorkshire, has reduced it to 0%. I had a Micra jump off about 500 yards from the motorway, I don't trust it at all. When/where/how did that Estima Rover serenade thing happen?
hairnet Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Pah, WCPGW? Oh yeahWTAF?? i was on holiday what did i miss joe /cabbage are yis ok - ^^^ thought it was a pisstake in the field till i saw the cozzers

purplebargeken Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 No worries Sir. I would not feel happy if you were not happy. We shall look at alternatives, but thank you so much for the offer. It was hugely appreciated.
purplebargeken Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 Yooooohooooooo, Pete-M, calling Pete-M.
beko1987 Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Could it not be holed up at breadvans residence for a while? Would blend in with all his other bl chod...
purplebargeken Posted August 1, 2015 Author Posted August 1, 2015 It would indeed (bit like a car sales lot but much nicer). The immediate issue is getting the Dolly moved from the repair place in EP, the nearest location is Daniel's garage in Leigh (thanks Daniel). From then on it is then a matter of waiting to hear from the transport guy about getting the proper move sorted. The problem is that we can't use another transport person as quotes from Shiply are coming in around the 500 to 600 quid mark which is way out of piggy bank range. Once it is safely in Daniels garage we can relax a little bit, it's just this timescale of having the car moved by the end of the coming week which is causing the difficulty. The Toledo is fine and dandy in my garage for as long as it takes.
Cavcraft Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Can you not 'Shipley' it from the Port to Manchester? I'd have thought £50 or so and someone would do it?
purplebargeken Posted August 1, 2015 Author Posted August 1, 2015 Pete-M might be able to help but if not then that would be our only option
BavarianRetro Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I've a car being collected in Altrincham next week. I'm sure the guy would be happy to assist, but would need paying unfortunately. I'm happy to pass on his details.
purplebargeken Posted August 1, 2015 Author Posted August 1, 2015 Thanks BR - hopefully we should be ok if things work out with Pete-M. Thanks everyone, this place is what it used to be
