Look at what I've just missed at Buxton Pavilion.

This is the dregs of the Derbyshire run.

When was the last time I saw one of these, didn't know they came in v8 flavour.

The SD1 in the first row of pics looks like it has a fridge on the roof, which is good (shame it is really a van in the background).

But I is HATEZ the alloys on the Rover  (off an 800, or summat?).  Everything else is ummmmmmm good, esp the Opel.

The Mantas only came in 1600 or 1800 CIH I think.

Unbelievably you can put a ten year old Saab engine straight in lol.

Yeh just straight in ! Always makes me laugh that turn of phrase . I did an Audi a3 engine swap last month with another motor with the same engine code , so so many differences . Engine conversions are never that easy

I thought the reg on that Paul Smith Mini looked familiar. This is my old tomcat.

The Manta deffo has V8 and a stingray emblem near the front wheel, could it be an Australian import, as I said I just got there as every one was leaving, it was only about 3pm. There was a Bentley and Roller too but I don't like them much so didn't bother.

The manta and the (I presume the same) SD1 were on the 'cars you don't see much anymore' Facebook page earlier today in a slightly less spectacular location:

I is HATEZ the SD1 spoiler almost as much as I is driven to INSANE STABBY FURY by the horrid wheels.

V8 into Manta is a pretty common mod.....................

It is/was apparently straightforward to put a Rover in the Manta B, so much so that a firm up in Northants produced a DIY booklet on the process

I know this because I had a Manta B and got one of the ~£5 booklets sent out, was advertised in a typical magazine.  I wonder if it's in the loft.  The booklet, not the Manta that is

(Yes, I know that is a Manta A)

The fake sd1 rear spoilers do a great job of making you looking look like you've pished yourself. The rain water pools on the spoiler, you open the boot and all the water rushes off the spoiler, goes under it in the opposite direction then straight down your trousers . You do develop a technique after a while which is basically unlock the boot then run away as fast as you can .

That Paul Smith Mini can often be seen near the Landy specialist in Hayfield, not far away at all. (Either that or there are two).

Did you happen to see a green late '60s Mini?
