Akeley Van Nats pics

Having nothing else to do this afternoon I decided to make the short trip to Akeley for the Van Nats classic and custom van show. Lots of fancy customised stuff with airbrushed paint and massive V8s but also some unmodified vehicles. No pineapple VWs though, which was nice.

As is customary, I have written a blog post about the event which can be found here: http://rustyoldrubbish.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/visiting-van-nats.html

Class! If you didn't go to shows like this, you'd barely know such stuff (old vans with murals, etc) still existed.

Great stuff there.

Sitting in that CF with the Jensen motor next to you must be quite something.

If those were cars modified to some of those tastes we'd be laughing I'm sure of it.

My thoughts exactly, I thought the scene had died out completely. Its made me want one again (remember Steve Stringer?)

Was a there an over the top muralled red lwb mk1 Transit there. I saw just such a vehicle towing a caravan south on the M1 tonight in convoy with a Suburban, possibly that one with the subtle plastic bull bar, and 3 Dayvans. They looked furrin, I assumed the Tranny was one of those Kraut Fire engines that seem to outnumber all other old Transits these days.

remember a few of those from years ago.

I last saw that mid eng'ed CF  in kings lynn over 10 years ago & thought it was great.

those rapido caravans are really amazeing things , sold mine a couple of years ago & now have an esterl pop up one

Call it 'EU Madness' or whatever you like, but EU Agricultural policy states:

"In exchange for some corner of a foreign field that is forever England, there must be some corner of an English field that is forever 1978."

I think you found that corner.
