Careful, a lot of Lucas 18ACRs sold online are cheap Indian-made units; it is often a better investment to get a competent auto electrician to rebuild your original.

If I knew one, I would.

If it's the same one as mine which i expect it is then it's a Delco Remy DRA3015. I suspect a little homework should find you a cheap one as it's fitted to a lot of BL cars at the time.

The alternators are are a common fitment and it might be worth just getting a new battery as a matter of course.

There are two types of thermostat that are available for Dollies, 82 and 88 degrees IIRC.

1300TC, marvellous things. No heater control valves on Dolomite or Toledo models.

Acr alternators were a bit weedy; the later A127 alternators were fitted to just about everything in the 80's from escorts to BL stuff. Typically start at 55amp outputs heading up to a dizzying 90amp.

Probably more than you'll need, but when it comes to electrics, if it'll do more, it'll do less too!

Passenger door is open: car's a dud.

Disappointed with AS, no-one has mentioned the Alfa in the background. I think that was the model with the rear mounted gearbox for weight distribution.

DoloDID.

New alternator, new battery, new tyres (Continentals, replacing classic Michelins that had perished on the outer edges).  Dolly once again ready for DRIVAN Yo.

The heater was cold today, despite the temp gauge being well up, so I will faff around tomorrow and look for an airlock.

Heater still playing up: ran the car up to hot today with the cap off the header tank and the heater on, but no improvement.  I may try again tomorrow.

Last spring my Vitesse heater output started to fall and eventually was cold, mine turned out to be a blocked heater matrix. I took off the water pipes from the heater radiator and connected the garden hose, at first just lots of spray because the water could not flow, but eventually connecting the hose to flow and return of the heater alternately it gave a gush and started flowing. Me, the under bonnet and roof were covers in brown water and it took some time for the clear hose water to come though the heater clear. After a good clean up I have a fully functioning heater.

Not a job for a cold damp day!  I might give that a go when it is next sunny.

If it is raining it will wash the brown sludge away that comes out!

New mobile mech from Banbury very good.  He has resolved a few wiring niggles, appears to have fixed cooling and heating issues, and has taken the rev counter to his place to try to fix it.

I R HAPY.

Went for a tootle, car going well.   New tyres mucho better than perished old ones.

I can't wait to shod the xantia in new tyres, I reckon 40% of the shit ride is the old, crap, perishing, hard and unbalanced old tyres!

Hopefully anyway...

You need a lot more cars to fill that space BV

No way.   The blue one may be replaced, but no increase in numbers this year.

Me too skinty. Cheap Saab to replace Peugeot is doable, but no wong for more EXCITEZ jalopes.
