Eno Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Took the dog out for a stroll this evening and came across a heap of shite and a crap boat up a farm road. F Reg Mini that will probably end up on Ebay described as a barn find.998cc automatic. Probably the ultimate engine and gearbox combination.Tax disc ran out in ’98 and it’s probably sat in this damp, dark hovel since. Guessing this is the remains of a Vauxhall, only going by the last remaining piece of the bodywork. No number plates or anything lying around No idea what this is. Wing is green, floor is blue. Might not even be parts from the same motor. Think the lager can might be aftermarket... Knackered horse carrier. I couldn't find anything out about it online. Looks like the cab has just melted away. I didn't want to venture out into the bog that surrounded this for a closer shot. Hoping it stays dry the next couple of days so I can pop back up and take a closer look at some of the other shite lying about, yeah there's more, without getting too muddy.Any help in identifying anything would be much appreciated! UltraWomble, Banger Kenny, michael t and 5 others 8
Cavcraft Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Vauxhall is possibly a Mk2 Astra 'Celebrity' as I think they were that colour scheme. I guessed at the horsebox being a Ford and put the details into the DVLA tax checker thing, so almost certainly a Mk3 Transit, surprising it's not a diesel. The green and blue thing is a mystery, fair to think it's a commercial vehicle as the back 'floor' looks like a ribbed one, so maybe a pickup? The steering wheel looks like it may be Sherpa/LDV to me but it's a wild guess. God knows what the last one is.
MarvinsMom Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Vauxhall is possibly a Mk2 Astra 'Celebrity' as I think they were that colour scheme. i think its off of a mark 1 astra and not a mark 2, with that shittly little wing mirror fixed to the door. the celebrity one did come in that paint scheme though. Mr_Bo11ox Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 its a chevette, defo Banger Kenny, Cavcraft and Talbotman 3
chaseracer Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Aye: Shove-It, going by the front suspension. alf892 1
strangeangel Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I had an automatic Mini once upon a time - a truly terrible car. Many was the time I felt like dumping it in the woods!
Eno Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Cheers guys. I'll try and get some better shots of the last one next time I'm passing by. There's a couple of wrecked mopeds further into the woods and a couple of cars under tarps that might be worth a look as well.
MarvinsMom Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 yes, it could be a shove-it. did they come in 2 tone paint?
twosmoke300 Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Just seen the suspension and steering wheel , deffo a shove it
Eno Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 is this in woods near hemel hempstead ?Nope, up in Aberdeenshire. Similar horde of shite down there?
Talbotman Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Not just a shove it...but a 1983 Chevette Special no less!
Timewaster Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 The shove it was probably dumped there when the farmer got himself a shiny new mini automatic.
Formula Autos Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 +1 on the shove-it. The rusty steel wheel is the clincher. Is the remains of the red car a bit of Renault Supercinq?
D Spares & Tyres Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Definately Chevette, I remember that colour scheme Pretty sure the remains with the blue floor is a MK2 Trannie Fascinating find
Eno Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 Fascinating find It's amazing what's hidden up side roads.Spied another pile of shite on the way home from work tonight that I'll need to visit with my camera. I'll update once I've been up past for a look. DodgyBastard 1
sierraman Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 My brother had one better, he had a 850 automatic. Strangest find I had was a Transit mk1 ambulance on some allotments on Wadsley Common. Disappeared about 4 years ago they had to cut it up with a grinder to shift the thing
robinmasters Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 yes, it could be a shove-it. did they come in 2 tone paint?Yup. My first car was nearly a two-tone chevette. Burgundy over silver. Lovely.
Timewaster Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 In the first Chevette pic, there is a rear lamp and a piece of blue bodywork. The lamp looks like a mini but is wider. I thought CF2 but the bodywork is wrong. What Is it?!
overrun Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 i think its off of a mark 1 astra and not a mark 2, with that shittly little wing mirror fixed to the door. the celebrity one did come in that paint scheme though. The type that was also fitted to a Nova Sport.Ebay is calling.
I_am_Diesel Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I guessed Chevette by the steering wheel. Do I win £5?
Eno Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 I guessed Chevette by the steering wheel. Do I win £5?How about a Chevette steering wheel?
I_am_Diesel Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Suppose they have, just remembered the air bag. It won't fit then.
