I ordered a new fuel pump relay after the E28 died and wouldn't restart, ECP were out of stock but I managed to find one on Ebay for £55 or best offer. I offered £35 and they accepted. It's probably not a the kinda thing that's in high demand at any given time as it's only fitted to a small number of BMW's.

I fitted the relay and it fired into life so I drove it up to Foadwerx until I had enough enthusiasm to get on with some of the other things that needed doing.

I went to my local motor factors TMS and ordered an exhaust silencer and some 8mm fuel hose, Boyd over at Bavarian Retro had noticed a split in the fuel hose when I was over at his place the other week. Boyd also kindly donated and fitted a new viscous fan and diagnosed an air leak on the air intake bellows, unfortunately he didn't have any bellows that fitted, the E30 ones were slightly different.

We fitted a new hose last night, space was tight so Mrs Foad volunteered to do most of the work, the old hose was cable tied in 3 places under the inlet manifold which made it difficult to access but we eventually got it out and measured a new hose alongside it then fitted the new hose. The car does seem to run a lot smoother, perhaps the perished hose was drawing air or wasn't maintaining fuel pressure.

I also cut off the straight pipe and fitted a new silencer, it sounds much better with no drone but now I can hear where it's blowing from every other part of the system. I think I'll be replacing the lot when money allows.

Got the tyre machine wired up, I still need a bit of practice using it so if anyone local needs their tyres changed now's your chance.

That e28 looks a good un apart from the chrome arches like. But you never know what's under um.

Your photos are ace.

I was working on a certain bridge that's in the photos. Is a mega project. On the induction they was like we can't stress this enough, you can't take any pictures at all. They kept banging on about it.

£450

It hasn't been in for a test because the guy that currently owns it hasn't passed his test yet. He bought it as a project then found out it will be expensive to insure at 17.

Here am I looking at C15 stuff and stumbled upon your dead railway photos, where are they taken?

Also your E28 photos are just a reminder that I sold mine about 4 years ago and now you are making me have regrets!

If you do decide to break the white C15 my driver's side sun visor just flops down and hangs limp!

Dead railway photos were taken at Limekilns/Charleston in Fife, there are some interesting bit to wander around in that area including a mine with a mk2 Cortina in it.

The E28 may be coming up for sale shortly, I've put together a crap advert over on the blue forum. Mrs FOAD prefers her 360 and I'd rather have a 505 than a 5 series.

I'm going to compare both vans in the daylight and see which one is worth fixing most but I think I saw spare sun visors in the back of the white one so I'll dig them out.

Next time I am up in Scotland I will have to have a look at the railway stuff.

Trouble is my E28 was a 535i SE manual and I guess I am never going to find a good one of those again £1072!

A Sun-visor will be useful.

Comparing both vans, the red one is definitely better, it has 12k more miles on the clock and is a year older but the bodywork, rust and drivability is much better. The white one is either being broken or robbed of all the god bits and sold on.

The white one has been brush painted in the past, I only noticed it in the daylight.

I got a MASSIVE QUADRUPLE LEOPARDBUMMING on a C15 I bought on eBay a few years back. Probably my most disastrous buy

It was cheap enough that it doesn't matter if nobody buys any of the bits from it. The rear axle will be donated to the gold 305 and all of the good bits will be swapped onto the red c15.

After that I can use it as a shed.

It does have tinted windows on the back doors so nipping in to rip the head off it could be done in private....

I'd love a poke around the railway sometime, I'm close to it in Cairneyhill.

I didn't realise you stay in Cairneyhill - I also do.

The railway is easy to get to, there's a level crossing still at Merryhill right next to the Scottish Lime centre. From there you can follow the tracks down to Charlestown.
