I did say to Daniel that I'm not convinced the fuel gauge works, I parked it up once with 1/4 tank and the next day it wouldn't start, I chucked a gallon in and it fire straight up. Likewise on Thursday I put £20 in before I went to meet up with him to do the exchange and it still had just over 1/2 a tank when I got up to Northumberland! Edit - Joe can you message me? It keeps saying your inbox is full and I want to arrange returning the A Frame.Strangely once I put fuel in, the fuel gauge just read zero and didn't seem to move after that.

DodgyBastard Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 My car reduction is going quite well, I managed to sell 3 cars and buy 3 cars leaving me with the same amount of cars as before...I sold the Mercedes, bought the c15, sold the ZX and bought the Samara and sold the Forester and bought the Ranger...The ZX went to a French car enthusiast from Perth and the Subaru went to some Jakey's from Dalkeith, The Jakeys turned up 2 hours too early to come see the car when I specifically told them to come after 6 because I was at work. They went to the pub while they waited on me coming along, the guy buying the car drove erratically on the test drive and nearly crashed on numerous occasions, I thought I could smell drink off him but it wasn't until after they'd left with the car that Mrs FOAD mentioned that the other guy said they had went to the pub to kill some time. They asked if I scrapped cars and asked if I wanted the Focus that they turned up in, I declined the focus so they decided they were going to go, the guy driving the focus said he needed a piss before he left so whipped his cock out and pissed on the side of his car in front of us. I thought it would be a good idea to cancel my policy on the car so gave Elephant a call only to be told by the foreign man on the phone that I didn't have a policy with them.I frantically checked my emails to see who I was insured with and found it was indeed Elephant who I was with, I called again and got a nice Welsh woman who confirmed all my details and cancelled the policy. DodgyBastard Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 After the Subaru went we Jumped in the Samara to go and collect Mike's new car from Uddingston. DSC_0588 by srblythe, on Flickr The Journey there was ok but the return journey was a nightmare. We went via Hamilton to drop off a wet and dry vacuum at Bavarian Retro. As soon as we got onto the Motorway from Hamilton the heavy rain started and so did the problems, Mike lost the use of his wipers, my wipers were just shit, the blowers stopped working and I needed to keep the windows open to stop it from steaming up then the water started pissing in from the sunroof. I made it to the services near Kincardine. Mike got his wipers working then the car started dying from driving though flooded roads, he waited until it dried out before getting on his way again.I waited at the services with the engine running and noticed the temp creeping up a bit so turned the car off, that's when the top radiator hose exploded. DSC_0641 by srblythe, on Flickr Mike turned up a few minutes later and gave us a lift the rest of the way home in his new car. DodgyBastard Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 Mrs Foad continued with the camper conversion. DSC_0636 by srblythe, on Flickr The tinfoil bubblewrap seems to work quite well, we haven't decided whether to put fabric up or line it with bendy mdf or ply wood. I had a go at refurbishing some steel wheels. DSC_0631 by srblythe, on Flickr The wheels started off as they are on the right, old and crusty but with a going over with the wire wheel, primer and spray paint they look a bit better. DSC_0633 by srblythe, on Flickr They are Saxo spare wheels which when painted white are identical to 106 rallye wheels, the fact that they've never been fitted to a car hopefully means they are straight and true. oldcars Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Never seen a Ranger pickup that's not a 4x4 one before. Looks smart. Good job on the white wheels they have come up well. DodgyBastard 1

KruJoe Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 The fuse box is bloody daft on that Samara. It's in the n/s end of the scuttle tray, right were water runs off the screen. It should have a clear plastic lid, then a black plastic shield loosely wedged over the top. Often we fixed* gremlins by lifting the plastic and twiddling the fuses. Other electrical problems were rare.It employs this type:
KruJoe Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Sad to see the Tata's gone, but happy that the special ZX has gone to an enthusiast.

DodgyBastard Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 DSC_0628 by srblythe, on Flickr The ranger had some alarm issues, I went to lock the door and the alarm went off, I didn't even know it had an alarm, there's no fob with the key. I tried a few things to make it turn off such as disconnecting the battery, opening the door, turning the ignition on etc but eventually got it by repeatedly opening and closing the door locking and unlocking. The Tata is still here, the van place I bought the ranger from was meant to take it away when they dropped the ranger off but I didn't have jump leads to start it at the time so they said they would come back the next day.I sent them a text when they failed to turn up to be told they would get it on Wednesday. It's now Thursday and it's still here. They have the key and v5 for it so it's not like I can drive it away and set fire to it or anything.I'm tempted to send them a bill for storage. Dick Cheeseburger Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 ^ They clearly don't want it, so keep it and finish the MOT work. If they turn up for it, charge them storage.
DodgyBastard Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 I took a note of the v5 number before giving it to the ranger people, I may have just sent it off to my parents by doing it online. Now just need to get a key made for the tata... Dick Cheeseburger 1
Bucketeer Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 If by some strange quirk of fate you still have 'my' Samara when I'm back in the UK at Christmas time I will posilutely defitively buy it from you and will also love you forever (not in an actual way). KruJoe and Skizzer 2
DodgyBastard Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 Started making a new filler neck for the Proton, I used a bit of old exhaust pipe welded to each end of the old filler neck. AnthonyG Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 That Datsun Sunny is lovely. Superb 1970s colour, reminds me of Ford Roman Bronze. I've never seen a Ranger with holes in the wings, the Scottish climate isn't kind to mild steel is it?
