Well, I did a buy...

Couldn't really say no for £150, needs some tyres and a backbox but it drives amazingly well. I'll be leaving it white before anyone asks.

CherryCola looks a good buy, aside from the wobbly tidemark on the flanks. Missus TW owned G plate one around eleven years ago, when I'd just met her. Clean as a pin, but the numpty ran it out of oil and mullered the fekker. Four/five years ago they were still a common sight; I'm now scratching my head as to when I actually saw one in the wild recently. Good to hear it's staying white ;-)

Made a bit of progress on the cars...

Derskine wanted to borrow my 340 to drive to Edinburgh so I suggested we fix the blower motor before he set off, the resistor was knackered so a quick fix was needed which meant soldering the red wire to the orange wire which meant the blowers worked on full or nothing.

I ordered another crank sensor for the Niva, I'm now getting a healthy spark but no fuel, if I tip fuel into the throttle body it runs briefly. I can hear the pump priming when I turn on the ignition but the injector doesn't seem to be spraying. As suggested by Minimad I'm going to try testing the pulse to the injector with an led.

That's the Niva sorted! Thank fuck for that! Now I feel like a total mong for not thinking of it sooner...

So what happened was ages ago I bought another GM ecu after the Niva failed to start just after welding it, I tried the other ecu but it didn't work so I put the original ecu back on. I ordered a crank sensor, fitted it and got a spark but still wasn't getting fuel. I tried Mark's suggestion of using an led to check the pulses sent by the ecu but wasn't getting anything.

I thought fuck it, I'll swap that other ecu onto it and see what happens, when turning the engine over the led started flashing so I reconnected the injector and the engine started. I checked the ecu and it was in fact the original lada one I had fitted so I must have fitted the gm some point in the past and forgotten about it. I feel like such an idiot for not checking the ecu sooner but I was so sure that the lada one was fitted that I never bothered to check. I iz Spaz!!!

I'm having some Bedford rascal issues, the leg room is terrible, I think I'm going to weld a new drivers seat in at a better distance from the pedals...

Eh?

My legs are too long. I'm going to reposition a seat further back so that it isn't cramped when driving.

You haven't owned a Bedford Rascal for at least 3 months

I don't need to still own one to remember the lack of fucking leg room!

What I should have said is I'm having the same issue with the Niva, there's no leg room.

It's punishment for your capitalist long legs.

Great to see the Niva working again.   Just in time for snokaos as well.

I'm 6'2" and had the same issues with Niva leg room.   I didn't do anything about it reasoning that it is all part of the charm* and character* of the beast.   And also it looked like hard work.

Excellent, did you go right through both tunnels?

Also, the first one has to be a contender for next year's calendar.

Yeah, me Daniel, Mike and Bernadette went through both tunnels and explored all around the woods, went down to that derelict farm and got lost at the top of a big muddy hill. Don't suppose you can think of similar places to go?

I'll have a think. You certainly won't find another railway tunnel in Scotland that you can drive through, all the others are either palisaded or on a cyclepath.

If you want to give the old gal a proper work out then on the 27th is the punch hunt at lamancha.

Drumclog is cracking, you have to pay to get in though and it's usually full of Landy fanboyz who sit around and compare each others diff ratios without actually doing any driving. However, there are some good guys out there. Get some practice in and go up there and show them how it's done in something that cost less than their diff guards....

You used to be able to get into Barrhead quarry but last time I tried the access road was closed off. I've even been offroad round the back of the Phoenix retail park in Paisley, that was slightly surreal.

I don't know of any good clubs these days, Scottish Mud Club used to be good but the forums pretty dead nowadays. Tried http://forum.difflock.com/ ?
