DodgyBastard Posted February 12, 2017 Author Posted February 12, 2017 Is it a permanent fleet addition or to sell on. I never buy anything with the intention of selling on, It's only when I've used it and decide if I like it or not or if I decide it's too much work for me to finish it. DeeJay 1

BavarianRetro Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Just this weekend, I advertised a car as breaking for spares and clearly stating in the ad that the seats and wheels were away and the engine was gubbed, but if anyone wanted a complete car, I'd fit wheels and seats for them, but not the ones in the photo. Message from the guy who runs the facebook page,"Mate, I'll take the car complete.""You haven't read the advert, just looked at the photos and the price?""Are the wheels genuine?""Have you read the advert yet?"Battle lost. The advert states that there is a private number on the (£400) car."Billy" posts,"What's the number mate?""I don't know, some worthless shit like 'B1LLY'""PM me mate, I'll take it."Battle lost. alcyonecorporation, CGSB, DodgyBastard and 4 others 7
DodgyBastard Posted February 14, 2017 Author Posted February 14, 2017 Mercedes fail list isn't as bad as expected... Reason(s) for failure front Brake pad(s) less than 1.5 mm thick (3.5.1g) nearside Stop lamp not working (1.2.1b) nearside Registration plate lamp not working (1.1.C.1d) central Exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases (7.1.2) offside front Tyre tread depth below requirements of 1.6mm (4.1.E.1) offside rear Tyre tread depth below requirements of 1.6mm (4.1.E.1) I knew that it would need tyres, discs and pads so a couple of bulbs and an exhaust wasn't too bad of a result... Split_Pin Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Deestone Nankaras, had those on my old Vectra, served me very well indeed.
DodgyBastard Posted February 15, 2017 Author Posted February 15, 2017 While I was changing the tyres I had a quick look underneath to look for the blow in the exhaust. I found a small crack in one of the pipes on the middle silencer so that will need replacing too. The rear suspension feels quite soft so I ordered new shocks. There was an advisory for play in the steering so I'm going to try adjusting the steering box if possible. I was expecting a much worse list of stuff to work through so I'm happy that it's only minor things needing doing. The old tyres were pretty bad. It feels a lot better to drive on the new tyres. oldcars and They_all_do_that_sir 2
