Thyssen Krupp exhaust anyone put one on a car..

Yesterday I decided to open up my garage and get the Z3 out of storage and to my surprise it started up first turn of the key only to discover it sounded like a Corsa with a universal Halfords dustbin lid sized back box, so I had a quick look underneath to find out that the rear box had rotted along the join.

So not having much in the way of money after the A3 suspension decided to go bang I decided to go on eBay and buy a cheap back box.

This is what I bought..

It just seems ridiculously cheap so is it really going to be bad quality and more a case of Krupps of Bejing than Krupps of Essen as I know I can't expect original manufacturer quality from it and have said to myself in the past when buying cheap exhausts that I would never do it again due to fitting problems and the general quality.

Worth a go for that price.  It may need some 'persuasion' to fit but I'd imagine it'll do the job.

A friend of mine did his apprenticeship with thyssen krupp, they made lifts.

Not sure how relevant that is or if they also have an exhaust department.

HTH.

They also make submarines and tank gun barrels.

Hmmm an exhaust made of old battleship - must be good.

As a coincidence, I was on the BMW factory tour in Munich today and the guide stated that the metal used to make the bodyshell sections were supplied by Thyssen Krupp.

I eventually got round to having the exhaust fitted today and I must say I'm more than impressed..

It fitted like a glove and it makes a lovely burble which sounds better than the original item..

I think if I paid 10 times the price for an exhaust I couldn't replicate the exhaust note it even comes with a nice chrome tip..post-9282-0-85421000-1432745731_thumb.jpg I don't know how it could be made and be any profit in it for under £40
