505 engine parts - second try

Remember, back in December a first attempt to collect an old crappy 505 to break for parts ended in total disaster. Instead of giving live to this

brand new danielson tuned engine to be fitted as proper propulsion for this:

we ended up with yet another fine car in the garage.

This time, we were smarter and first sent a friend to have a look.  Only after he reported "hopeless rustbucket, engine fine", did we set out for yet another collection trip.

Destination is Pleystein in the far east of Bavaria, at a stone's throw from  the iron curtain (is it still there? Last time i ended up in that part of the country, it was).

A left turn right after the market place

and we were obviosly at the right place.

The typical old village garage time capsule

So what did we pull out of this place?

To avoid any discussion about eventually saving anything but the engine from the scrapper, some details first.

Look at this.

Even though the plate states different

this 505 is well behind its shelf time. Even a masochist welder would not consider fixing this (ok, except FSO, Lada and Citroen shiters).

So why did we buy it? Of course its the engine.

Simca 2,2L Tagora engine, but instead of the silly Solex carb its injected with turbocharger and intercooler: 160 HP and 245Nm torque..

Runs like hell, perfect fit for the Dinin Tagora.

What about the danielson engine? It will end up in the white 505 SX, 30 extra horses wont harm there either.

Collection thread must have gas station pick, here we go:

I reckon you should save it ;-)

Ok, will save the gear knob, but only because its a beer keg with "Simca" written on it.

They are a good looking car, those 505 saloons. I aspired to a V6 auto for quite some time but never found one.

Such a shame it is so rotten. Ho hum

Hmm.  That engine sounds like it's got a bit of a rattle going on in the video?

I do like the idea of a Tagora 2.2 Turbo though. :)

I'd forgotten how good & sharp 505's look not having seen one in the flesh in so long. Like a bigger 305 - another car I've always liked the look of.

Pity Pugs (after the 90's - 205/106/306/406) are now so unspeakably fugly. Sad really.

Only the engine? Everything on the car rattles and it marks its track with bits of rust.

That's less work than a certain 604 needed.

Save it!

Ok, i will save the beer keg and the fancy speaking "ordinateur de bord" , even though it doesn't  have the soft female voice with a sexy french accent that i would expect.

Crusty, terrible hand painted tyres, good old Mary Rose tidemark and decidedly tired.  I think it's fair to break that one for what you need.  The wheels on it would look nicer than the trims on the white one.  In fact I bet there's loads of useful stuff in the silver one that you can make use of.  Take everything of use to you and offer the remains for export or something.

What's that talking gizmo then?

You should save the alloys too, and put them on the other 505. I really, really, really want a Tagora too.

It's actually two gizmos. A fancy trip computer with the keyboard and a display on the dash, plus the voice thingy that tells you to fasten your belts, check the oil level or stop and look at that pretty girl. Both standard on the Turbo's that were the top of the 505 line.

Want Tagora? Just bring the cash and drive home: Theo is for sale:

if the wheels are 15" they are quite valuable, but if they are metric ones they aren't.
