The 200TE has been with me for 3 1/2 years now and a giveaway from a member of this parish! Yes I bought a train ticket to Exeter and was handed a Mercedes on reaching my destination. Thoughts about how bad it would be passed though my mind and if I could get it to a scrap yard maybe the weigh in money would cover my train fair home. After only a short drive I knew it was a good car and have been been all of the country in it. The photo is Kyle of Lockalsh.

 

This year the for the first time I have had to have a bit of welding done in the drivers floor.

 

Mrs6C has the 200TE this afternoon working with an Orchard group.

I am just a tintsy bit excited this afternoon as I have a collection tomorrow!

 

I am sure this was made public but I guess most will have forgotten as the deal was done in May. To set you on the right track I have had to take the half bulkhead out of the C15 van to get it in!

 

The C15 was also suffering from a broken drivers mirror base and needed replacing. I had ordered one but when it arrived the box said Right Hand but the mirror was the passenger side so I contacted the ebay seller and he said he was expected some more in and would check those and contact me yesterday. He never contacted me so I started looking for another supplier and found some of the mirrors being sold were either hand because the head twisted round. I tried the one I had and sure enough it turned to become a drivers mirror. The seller obviously did not know this. I have now fitted the mirror and all is well except Mrs6C is complaining it is not faded like the rest of the plastic on the van.

Interesting that you collected the Merc from Exeter as TNH is a Northampton registration, so it is back not far from home.

Can't believe you were given it.

I assume it must have been Mot'd if you drove it home (unless you were a very naughty boy).

The MOT on the Merc was shortish but it did not need much. I have spent a fair bit on service items and now a patch to the floor, but then I have done 23,000 miles.

125cc Scooter does 70mph, in the back of a C15 van!

 

The C15 met an old friend. A successfully collection involving a 300 mile round trip for the C15 has bought the Aprilia 125cc home, now all I need to do is my CBT.

 

The Silvers bumper was all safely delivered to them.

 

I wondered my way home though the Peak district stopping to look at Peak Rail and showing off the C15 to the engines!

Today Slowsilver called round and persuaded me putting my new Scooter away until next year is silly and I should squeeze it into the garage and fix it ready for when I have done my CBT next year. The initial problem is it won't start, just a flat battery! The problem is the battery is under the rear bodywork and not easily accessible so I set the dream team on it, yes Mrs6C and Slowsilver took it apart for me to reveal the battery. Unfortunately the battery won't externally charge using a battery charger with a motorcycle setting so I will have to order a new battery.

 

I am thinking that because the scooter will only get occasional use I just want to plug it in when it needs a jump or charge so I don't have to remove the body work every time. I am thinking a socket and plug like on my mini jump pack would be idea, with the socket permanently mounted in the locker under the seat. Has anybody seen a plug & socket for sale anywhere?

Now my dream team have left me now and I still have a bolt to drill out to get the handle off!

On my bikes I always wired in a connector for the charger. I just used a Tamiya style battery connector for radio controlled cars. Then just either make the other plug into an proper adaptor lead or just put the wire ends into the battery charger crocodile clips. It might be worth investing in a proper trickle charger for it that automatically keeps the battery topped up, I used to use my aldi battery charger for this.

Probably not but letting a battery go flat isn't a great idea hence keep it on a battery conditioner. To be fair though the original battery leads probably aren't much thicker than the cables on those plugs.

These are similar to what we use on lorries to connect the tail lifts up. Would be ample used with some suitable thickness cable.

They look like they would work well, but if I can get a plug and socket the same as my battery bank then I have an safe and easy way to jump it.

 

Not all places a scooter gets stored have electric.

Depending the size (hard to tell from the picture as no size reference), it's either a EC3 or EC5 connector. They're incredibly popular for model aircraft and helicopters for the battery packs.

 

You can get them either connectors only, or ones with cables attached. If you go cable attached, you only need some ring crimps on the end to make a full harness to attach.

Yes, they are EC-5 connectors.

 

Keep the leads short and thick and you'll be fine. Plenty on Ebay with various thickness of leads already attached

On one of my planes, I'm pulling 3.6KW through (80a @ 45v) similar sized connectors. They get luke warm but not very hot at all.

 

These jump packs are essentially the same LiPo battery packs that are used for RC flying.

The connectors on my LiPo jump pack are actually marked with EC5.

EC5 connectors are quoted as either 80 amp continuous and 120 amp peak or 120 amp continuous depending on who you believe. This is with 10AWG cable.

The only pre-wired ones I could see use 12AWG cable, and this is only quoted as 45 amp maximum. The wires are also only 100mm long, which is not much use as they would need to be extended, so probably better to just buy the plugs and solder enough 10AWG wire on for your fitment.

Only problem is you can't really protect the socket against an accidental short-circuit when you need this amount of current for jump-starting, so need to be very careful to make sure the live side is really well insulated.
