Neither my Honda or Transit have rectangular mounting areas for their plates, but now I have noticed, even though it is not as obvious as on the Jag or the Rover, it is irritating, and as the plates are beginning to fall apart I would like to replace them with plates that accurately fit their mounting areas.

Some number-plate suppliers list 75 and X Type profiled rear plates but does anyone know where I can get "custom" profiled plates made, for these two? Any tips for making templates?

Good god man! If that's your biggest worry then you are lucky indeed.

the 75 rear plate recess and the custom plates sometimes on them reminds me (and maybe the designer too) of the oversized recess for the P5B and the jumbo sized plates often fitted to them. Worst plate offender to my eyes is (i can't remembver the make and model) a korean crossover type car on the market a few years back where the rear plate recess also housed the handle for the hatch, and on uk spec plates that meant the plate was too wide and had to be screwed on just slightly off to one side.

DMB graphics made me up a set of odd sided plates, you could try them. I'd just measure what size you would like to fill the height of the recess and send them an e mail for a quote.

There's an even worse offender for that sort of unecessary behaviour.

Lots of other trivial things to do on these two, I decided to start at the back and work forwards.
