Return ticket purchased as it was £4 more than a single and I have not seen the car in the metal or heard it run. I like to be cautious, just in case the seller was less than honest in his description.

Ah, fair enough :)

(my previous post should have read 'some doubt', not 'some time'; autocorrect and my poor spelling FTW)

The bits in between the grim stations can be quite nice.... Warning, may contain Yorkshire.

1 more train to go, a 25 minute wait and then a 10 minute journey.

Love the compomotive alloys. I may have some bits laying around for this that I bought in error for my mk1 Delta HF4WD, I'll have a look next time I'm up at the garage.

Have a look at the evocorner forum if you get stuck with anything, a really friendly helpful group which embrace the full spectrum of deltas

Nice. I know sod all about these Deltas, other than the rotters wouldn't sell them here.

That is SO right Chris, I SO hope your next post contains the all important pez station shot.

Starting to go up the A628 the steering felt odd, I pulled over, couldn't see anything so carried on a bit further until the was a very pronounced vibration through the steering wheel.

I pulled over as soon as i saw a safe place and tried to see if I could see anything, but I couldn't, so breakdown has been called. Arsebiscuits.

Maybe check the wheel nuts? I had a v.similar experience on an Audi cab I picked up the other year....turned out all five were almost undone on the osf wheel!!!

Posted

Hopefully something simple like a tyre separating or something. Good luck, Chris!

Seconded on wheel nuts. Wouldn't be the first time someone sold a car with loose nuts. In fact, come to think of it, that happened with the very first car I ever bought!

Wheel nuts it is, 3 missing on the nsf.

However the wheel has moved round on the hub so the holes cannot be seen, possibly damaging the centre of the wheel, and as luck would have it there doesn't appear to be a jack in the car.

Posted

I can't believe I didn't check the bloody wheel nuts before. I was looking under the car for driveshaft or suspension woes as that's what it felt like. Fingers crossed the wheel isn't damaged.

Easy mistake to make, I did the same with my Lancia Spider after some scrote loosened the nuts.  I checked everything until I recalled the nuts, just before two fell out.

Did the vendor switch the tyres or summat?

Hope you can get mobile.  Mega frustrating to have a basically serviceable car stuck because of some small but important thing.

Get the breakdown dude to scavenge nuts, one from each other wheel.   You may have to overcome his H and S rules with folding money.

Posted

Nuts already scavenged from rear wheels, and remaining nuts tightened, but I am stuck without a jack.

I'm 50/50 on getting the wheel swapped with a rear one and driving home with 3 nuts in 3 of 4 wheels or saving petrol on the breakdown truck.

Just hope the flatbed driver doesn't want to chat about how much he loves UKIP all the way back to Lincs.

Is there a full sized spare in case of wheel damage?

Posted

Bother. That's annoying but on the bright side that's an awesome Delta you have there.

100% yes. If anyone votes 'No' or 'Don't care' we'll unleash internet rage level 2.1 on their sorry arse/s.

no sorry 2.1 has been updated to 2.2.4

No, space saver.

EBay already checked for replacement, none on there.

Is the rescue wagon there yet?

This misadventure sounds like exactly the sort of thing that happens to me.

Posted

Rescue wagon not here yet.

I reckon I'll get the offending wheel off and see if it is damaged. If it's ok, I'd rather drive home on 3 nuts... If recovery chap doesn't complain too much.
