John F Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Following some outstanding service recently by a radiator supplier that immediately exchanged my defective Discovery 300 TDi radiator after it sprung a leak after 11 months of use with no quibbles whatsoever, I thought I'd drop this thread in here so that people could add recommendations for suppliers, etc. that provide excellent service or go beyond the call of duty. Craig the Princess Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Good idea. Could http://autoshite.com/topic/11930-the-limeflower-pages/be moved from news and events to the main forum?
John F Posted November 20, 2014 Author Posted November 20, 2014 Might be a good idea to change its name from "The Limeflower Pages" to something a bit more understandable to the non-BL botherers amongst us, too... I originally thought it was a thread about interior design... Shep Shepherd and Craig the Princess 2
garbaldy Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Another vote for budget radiators here, and good idea for a list of decent suppliers too
Alan_Green Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Yes, yes, yes. I'm new here and this is precisely what I'm looking for. Recommendations and some sort of labour exchange program. Obviously should be the "Beige Pages" and pinned to the main forum (not in events). For my part I need to find someone with these skills for £60 a wheel and someone who can do a good dinitrol underbody treatment for cash
sheffcortinacentre Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 great idea for a sticky. but kin'll could of warned us it was the fat mockney twat. they'll be cheap for a reason if hes used them.
dave21478 Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 I always assumed buying batteries online would be a non-starter (geddit?!?) due to delivery costs and couriers not wanting to carry them, but just ordered from Battery Megastore after a tip from another forum. I bought from the French site http://www.batteriemegastore.fr/ But they have a UK site too...http://www.batterymegastore.co.uk/ Free next day delivery and a decent price overall.
Skizzer Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 ^ In the spirit of free market competition, I've used www.battery2u.co.uk a few times and also found them competitively priced and very speedy on the despatching (next day if you order before 4pm). Not had any problems with couriers delivering batteries.
Fabergé Greggs Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 I've been looking for an excuse to recommend Gonella Italian cars specialists in SE london. Haven't used the workshop, but they did an accident repair on my X1/9 and it was faultless, as well as been entirely pleasant along the way. They also put my X1/9 and the spitfire through the MOT without advisories... that could make them good or bad or it might just be luck...
Cavcraft Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Do garages count? These lads are the bomb when it comes to VAG stuff and don't try and rip you for stuff you don't need... http://www.centralvwaudi.com/ (It's ok, I still hate VAG stuff)
John F Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 Yep - I suppose this thread could be used to recommend any service provider that provides a really good service. It'd also be good to hear some examples of how they've been good, e.g. found unobtainium parts when nobody else could, charged 50% less than everyone else for a top class job or product, or - as in my case - provided an immediate no-quibbles replacement on a warranty. Might also be an idea to put a search term in capitals at the top (like I did above) to help people browsing through, in the event this thread picks up a bit of momentum.
