Shite Swapz, now haz Camry!

I suspect you may become bored with the bulletproof reliability though. I imagine like most people on here you unwittingly get off on the excitement of whether you will make your journey to the shops to get some Rizla and some silk cut, without the revs dying out and the scene from the rear view mirror being filled with smoke.

Okay, its not the same as base jumping but you don't see Jeb Corliss driving himself to his next leap in a DAF 33 do you? We all need a level of excitement to keep us on 'the edge' but I suspect this is not yours.

Volksy has a similar problem with his Corolla and is currently having doubts with his Celica for the same reason.

I am the second biggest fan of the Camry-range behind spottedlaurel, so: Very well done!

Oh so reliable, oh so high-quality, oh so well-made. Just to wind you Carlton-fans all up...

i remember servicing these on my apprenticeship. good old barges, never went wrong. but, its the automotive equivalent of beans on toast. does the job but not very special.

Yeeeeeeesss... but beans on toast at somewhere like Betty's Tea Rooms in Harrogate.  High quality and initially surprisingly expensive, but ends up being fragged along with everything else.

Enjoy your Sunday breakfast  :)

Nice that it's in Carina E minicab white. These were the most spectacularly unpretentious "luxury" cars you could buy.

Sold at a lower price-point in the USA and it (and the Accord) pretty well decimated anything home grown and forced The Big Three to have a serious rethink.

I hate to admit it but I quite like it, It's nicer than the Carlton to drive and similar fuel economy!

Whether you drive a two litre, or a three litre, doesn't make the slightest difference in OMGMPG.

I had a Carlton 2.6 CDXi estate and that was terrible to drive, so pretty much anything would be nicer, even a Toyota.

I went through a Camry phase a few years back, had two of the previous 87-91 model.  I liked them, also thought the 2.0 was nicer than the V6, which didn't seem any faster really.  Those ones didn't half rust though.

100 miles from home the coolant boiled out of the expansion tank...

Armed with a couple of empty 500ml bottles I filled them at a nearby stream, topped up the radiator and continued on my way home with a constant eye on the temp gauge...

Now swapped Camry for this!

I had previously given the 306 to my parents who had been using it occasionally when my dad didn't have his company car, previously I had given them the Carlton to use but when they saw the 306 and realised it had working heaters and actually fitted in their garage they wanted to use that instead.

I took the Camry down for them to see, hoping they'd like it enough to give me the 306 back, they loved it, my dad especially taking a shine to it as his last non work car was a 1984 Toyota Corolla so he clearly has a thing for shite toyotas...
