Picture licence reminder...

Please remember that if you have a photo licence (as most of us will have by now) you have to renew it every ten years ~ or face the pissibolity of a £1000 fine.

We're forcing you to pay us money and if you don't we'll force you to pay us even more.

My picture expired 4 years ago and I only renewed it as the bike test guy said he couldn't accept it.

I never even got a reminder so had no idea it was out,

£1000? Really? How does forgetting to update something warrant a grand?

Still not sure why he wouldn't accept it as he only photocopied the paper part anyway.

Mine was out of date for a year, but in that time I used it as ID to register for a marriage, rented three vans, and picked up countless parcels. Nobody even noticed, it is a bit of a con when they'll send out reminders for tax and sorn....

There's a bunch of cnuts in Whitehall paid to sit around and think this shit up....

I've still got the old paper one which I intend to hang on to for as long as possible.

get a big boy's licence and then after 45 it's every 5 years, after 65 every year AND you get to pay some one to push their finger up your arse.

My Dad hasn't moved since about 1985 so still has a pink paper one. I don't think they ever need to be updated unless you change address?

^ yes think your right as we moved 14 years ago we had to go all plastic card, The misses photo licence is still the same one from when we moved though.

That definitely used to be the case, but I'm sure I read something about everyone having to move to photo licences shortly. I did get a reminder, but haven't yet sorted it...

That never happened in my HGV medical. Are you sure you didn't pay for a full medical with a happy ending?

I had to send back my 1986-vintage paper licence in 2011, two years after I did my motorbike test (or they'd have made me retake the test).  I nearly cried.

It was so worn out, it looked like a Clanger's laundry.

Normally if I want that type of thing I'd go to Frenchland customs in Turkish truck waving a UK licence and then the service is free.

My photocard had expired for a few years with zero consequences until taking out a UK insurance policy they demanded a photocopy/scan of my license, which I sent off. They took the huff because it was expired and made me renew it or face having the policy cancelled and loose my dosh. Fucking twats.
