Can someone here get me a radio code?

When I was away on holiday I did the sensible thing and disconnected the battery. Now the radio does not work as I do not have the code. Arsebiscuits.

I have the VIN and the radio serial number.

I am looking online and they all want about £20. Bit steep me thinks or am I being tight?

The key fob has also stopped working since I reconnected the battery but I will look at that. I am quite happy using the key for a wee bit but shall do some digging as to why.

Bloody modern(ish) cars.

There will be a procedure for re-synching the fob, possibly even in the handbook. It would help to know what make of stereo it is.

Not sure of  the radio make. Its one of these:

I have found a post on t'interweb about how to do the keyfob so will get on with that when I have a spare moment. Ta for advice though. Will cross reference that with the handbook.

Couldn't find the code when I bought my Disco. Looked for the supplying dealer in the service book and rang them (though to be fair any dealer should be able to do it) and they gave me it over the phone from the reg of the car.

Alternatively, give me the reg of the car, and £20, and I'll ring them for you. :P

I also, about 2 minutes after speaking to the dealer, realised that the random bit of card in the sun visor with a number written on it was a radio code card...

if you press the button top left does the car clean itself

There's a button pressing trick with some Jaaaag stereos. Bypasses the code.

Unfortunately I can't remember it.

Apparently its FFWD and PTY for a few seconds. Failing that its FFWD, PTY and A.MEM. However I have been pressing them loads and its not working so today started looking for the code.

No, a chap in a red blazer comes running up to the car and drives it off.

I've used a site before, think it was http://www.gsmforumserver.com/forumdisplay.php/free-car-radio-unlock-codes-190.html and I got a code back within an hour.

It'll help to research first the manufacturer of the radio - any clues? That'll drive how they generate the code rather than car manufacturer.

Tried this and they have said they are unlikely to be able to get it but have given me an email address of someone who can help and hopefully cheaply.

Ta for your assistance.

Press A.Mem + PTY + >>. At the same time, according to my mate??

Sadly it does not work on my stereo for some reason. No matter, I sent an email to the chap that was suggested on the GSM website and he gave me the code for a fiver which is a reasonable amount.

If anyone wants his details at any point I am happy to pass them on.

Did you tried ringing Jaguar? Nissan couldn't have been more helpful when I needed a code for the replacement stereo (from an identical Almera) I fitted after the volume knob went a bit mental on the original one. All I did was give the chappy the code stamped on the side and the reg of the car it came from and he gave me the radio code completely gratis. Really really helpful, especially considering Nissan hadn't seen any money from any owner since 1999 when it had its last main dealer service.

obv its too late now, but for future reference Nissan UK were really good when I asked politely.
