FSO Carlo Pickup Found. Also For Sale!

Was out on my deliveries this afternoon for work and happened upon a P REG FSO Carlo pickup looking sorry for itself just behind a gate. It belongs to a metal recycling yard who I was delivering too so asked them about it. They had taken it in for scrap and came as a runner but have put it to one side where it just sat since.

In a rush I forgot to ask them how much they wanted but it is for sale. Just checked the reg on the DVLA site and the Tax ran out in April and Mot only ran out in October of last year 2013.

Details,

P572 OFA , 1ST REG 16/09/96 which is funny for me as the 16th Sep is my birthday!

Diesel 1905 according to DVLA.

White in colour looks complete few scrapes but minimal rust at a quick glance though interior looks good from what I could see too.

Location is Walsall west midlands about 5/10 minutes from junction 10.

Company is G.L.M.S just off Fryers Road. 01922 660 785.

It's certainly worth saving in my view though I know there getting a bit common on here. :-)

It even had a FSO immobilizer fitted to put the tea leaves off!

FSO immobiliser?  What's that, the badge on the front?

I love these, it's very lucky for me that I've only seen this after close of business.  The engine will be the well-known and loved na Peugeot 1905 diesel.  Do they run on chipfat?

I've just emailed Cyanide_Steve of FSO Cars, UK Ltd.

I'm sure those mentalists would be interested to hear about it :)

Would that be the small rectangular slot in the dash for a plastic key to fit in - with about 8 metal strips and FSO written on it? I used to have to fit those, and then a few weeks later remove them again when they drove the owners mad...

Wow. That means if someone is quick, they can nab it before Steve hoovers it up! Though doesn't he prefer it when they come in two halves?

Considering where it is, I'm sure that could be arranged...

Thanks Joe, As much as I'd love to, the workshop and yard are absolutely full to the max at the moment and I'm expecting another FSO Caro truck from Poland any day now to use for parts for my others. I've also got a huge car transporter trailer in my workshop at the moment which I bought and now doing a full rebuild on which is taking up space and nearly all of my money :-)

Does this mean I have to make the phone call then? The man with no space...?

Steve, in "FSO Perv Turns Down Another FSO Shocker"!

How about Benno / Alex_G - do they know about it?

Free off-the-road space available here for you Eddy, while you sort things out... :)

I'm in enough trouble with the Boss already...

Sorry for the delay in replying but yes it looks like the immobilizer you mentioned.

Or like these?

It doesn't look like the first one pictured maybe better than the 2nd picture but I've not seen the passenger side due to access an underneath.

I'll try and sort at least a pic when I can for everyone unless someone gets round there 1st an beats me to it!

Hope someone saves it as seeing all the usual scrap Mondeos, Vectras, etc which I find a waste mangled up in piles of scrap nearby reminds me how close this has come to the same fate which it still could yet.

If it's still there by end of November I will give them a call and arrange to collect it. I've now finished rebuilding the trailer but I'm so busy until after the NEC classic car show there is no way I can manage it before then.

LOLz, I wondered if this had been nattering away at the back of your mind Steve!

Still there as of this morning, saw it on way into the tip. Still in exactly the same place as before, tucked nicely into the corner with nothing dropped on top of it. No pics as I didn't have my 'phone on me but as described by the OP.
