Citroen XM - was JohnK's steed

I too am paranoid about this and never leave a car running without first opening the drivers window, even when it's pissing down.

Rover 800's used to do this when new if you slammed the door and I can't imagine age will have helped.

I once managed to lock my then 6 and 4 year olds in a Maserati 430 , whilst I scraped the screen.

It was a bit tense coaxing my eldest to climb from the back seat to unlock the drivers door , all the time worrying she might knock the auto selector into reverse, especially as the thing was ticking over at about 1500 revs after a cold start. This wouldn't be a problem now as there's no way any Biturbo would start in the winter.

Not true our 425 is a great starter.

Must've improved with age, when new we used to leave a pool car( usually a R25 V6) at the directors house, to save time on the mornings his Maserati wouldn't start. In fact, thinking about it the reason I had it at home on this occaision was because me and the transport manager had recovered it the night before from Central London after a flat battery episode.

My Uno used to lock itself without central locking, once during solid rain. l had no coat on and engine running. I was at work in sarf London, so it didn't take long to find a resourceful sort with a coat hanger!

Get a pro to fit it. ;-)

Bentley used to do this as well: open the boot and the central locking went off. That was a micro switch for the alarm. I am now as paranoid as the rest of you though and if the keys are inside the car, I have windows open and usually, the drivers door as well!

The Mazda freaks me out though because as soon as you start the bloody thing it auto locks and they will only unlock when the engine is turned off. The previous owner had this alarm and remote central locking system fitted and must have been terrified of being attacked at traffic lights or something to have it set up for the doors to lock automatically. Of course, being a convertible that makes all the difference as no thief would just lean in through the gaping hole where a roof should be now would they?

did the window arrive OK? Haven't heard and just wondered?

Perhaps unsurprisingly, this one has moved on already! Not sure of window status.

Windows in - you were right Campbell ... It was a bastard of a job! I will drop you a PM just now...

As Ian says, unfortunately this has been scooped up by a very good friend of mine who literally dragged me to the ground and snatched the keys.

Everything's always for sale for the right price in my book and he made a decent offer just at the moment I had agreed to buy an E32 and realised I had no money left in the car fund.
