306 XSi 2.0 16v, MOT Aug 15, £400 or offers. may break

Now considering the viability of breaking this, as it's just attracting messers. Or will take offers from shiters.

Right, driven by poverty and the arrival of a diesel fuelled peasant wagon, the 306 has to go. I'm now commuting every day, and seeing as I'm now studying and not working, I'm going to have to watch the pennies.

306 XSi 2.0. Black, 3 door, non-sunroof which is allegedly the weapon of choice for track dayZZ etc.

Good stuff

MOT to August 2015

Remote central locking, elec mirrors, elec windows, rear wiper all work.

Climate control, which doesn't blow cold, but which now does blow.

ABS

Leather & suede interior, with only a slight hole in drivers bolster since I changed the seat

Good rust free body, although there are some bubbles on the tailgate, which has been replaced (has a different reg no etched on the glass)

Recent new front P bushes, drop links and ball joints

Bad stuff

Noisy front wheel bearings. A pair of replacement front hubs would probably be the cheapest and easiest fix.

Heater blower comes on full when you start the engine, but if you turn it to full and back, it goes off. Weird.

Speedo works when it wants to. FCF advice is a faulty gearbox sender, which can sometimes be removed and cleaned. I just haven't had the time or motivation.

165,000 miles, although you really wouldn't know to drive it.

All in all, a decent looking, pretty fast, comfortable and reliable warm hatch. I've really enjoyed driving it, and would honestly keep it if it did as many miles to the gallon as the ZX. Unfortunately, it doesn't.

Price? Dropped to £400. Surely can't be dear especially considering the length of test?

Will possibly take cheap px, especially if it's economical.

That is FIT.

If I had the space Chris, I would be all over this.

Good luck with the sale.

Get yourself all over it, anyway. You can find space, it's MOT'd!

Better than a V*lvo!

Such a nice looker these things. What HORSE are they, 130 or something?

Desperate bump before I have to brave the general public.

£400, cheap px possible, will also hold for reasonable deposit.

Those things are huuuuge fun to punt down a country lane! I'm amazed you're having so much difficulty shifting it.

Shame it's luxo-barge money to insure for me

I think it's just the thought of putting two wheel bearings on, and the mileage. TBH, you really would never guess the mileage by driving it, it drives really well.

I'd like this to put my diesel engine/box in, remove rear seats, weld side windows up and make into a hopelessly smelly van. But I haven't any money, so for that reason I'm oot. GLSWTSEFiXUD with the sale.

The dodgy speedo would worry me more than anything.

You get used to estimating your speed by engine speed. And, it only the gearbox sensor anyway. Someone on FCF said he removed and cleaned his, as it had soaked up gearbox oil, and that worked fine. Unfortunately, I'm short of time and motivation.

My zx has a dodgy speedo, anything under 30 and the needle bounces around like an old land rover. Fine at all other speeds though! Must be a psa thing

I would snap your hand of if I could get this blingo moted and shifted on to pastures new.

The Wifes* 306 does the same with the speedo, only when hot or after a long journey.

I've half a mind to buy this if it's still available next payday, as I'm bored of the Celica, and the wife* wanted a Black three door, and ended up with a red five door. Would piss him off royally.

When's next payday?

Also, what do you want for the Celica? I really shouldn't ask that, as I need money and an economical car. But. But. But..... Aaaarrgghhhh!

This has to go. Messers and timewasters driving me mad.

Px available with cash my way, or may break if it's worthwhile.

Posted

It's mental to think you may end up breaking it, but I can understand why, given the fact it seems to have mostly just attracted the great unwashed so far.

Posted

Billy, it's really annoying. It's a really good car, but all I've had are £300CASH2NITE and people wanting service history.

I just need it gone, now. I'm properly skint and seeing it sat on the drive is frustrating me.

I take it Mr I'll Have It On Friday didn't show up then? I did sort of laugh to myself when I saw his post, sorry.

Message me later, I'll try it on some cars for sale pages I use.

If you're referring to my post Billy, Myself and Sporty-Shite had a PM convo about a possible deal with my Celica, came to nothing as Sporty wanted cash rather than another car. Plus I came to a dawning realisation that swapping a perfectly working car with one that has a few faults needing immediate attention possibly wasn't the best idea.

It wasn't you, Volksy. There was a guy on F*cebook who said her really wanted it, and I stupidly said I'd hold it for him. He didn't show.

In brighter news, there may be someone viewing it tonight. However, I shan't hold my breath.

Not at all, matey. Some bum nugget on FaceAche told Chris his car was worth more (than the advertised price of £450) and said if it was still there on Friday he would give him £500.

Ah, sorry, think I've got out of bed on the wrong side this morning!

Posted

Billy, it wasn't that guy. Someone got in touch and we agreed for him to collect Friday. He just ignored all contact from friday onwards. Tve £500 guy went and bought something else cos he thought mine had sold.

My own fault.
