There's still m3s getting fixed under warranty for this

Indeed.but you need to have many much shiny service history to access this.

Tayne has a 330ci Sport, same as I had until May. Highly recommended but you need to sort through Barry and Kevs shite examples to find a good one.

Yes, as with the E36, the 3 series coupe is the 21st century Capri. Well kept versions attract admiring glances, shabby ones scream 'wrong' un' behind the wheel.

Id love one of these. Back in 01 my mate had a lovely brand new 330 ci in silver with M tech kit and half alcantara seats. Lots of things were quicker than it but it was just the way it went and sounded. One of the nicest interiors of the period I reckon.

A post 2000 but prefacelift 6 pot with the mtech kit and sports interior would be marvellous. Even the earlier orange indicator models are nice.

I'm not that keen on the looks of the saloon though.

^^I miss mine but driving the 318is Coupe today which I think is something like 140bhp, it was great and cruised around the M25 effortlessly and in comfort.

If you can though, the 330ci is the one to have.

They're OK. I wasn't that convinced by the 323 my Dad had as a courtesy car which I took for thrash. The handling felt a bit stodgy and it wasn't what I thought it would be at all. Went like shit of a shovel and sounded nice though.

Watch for rust though, look in the join between the outer sill and wings and doors, and the front arches where they like to blister.

Like any car, just buy a good one.

Get one with S/H and in good nick and you should enjoy comfortable sturdy powerful German motoring, especially the six pots. The three ive owned (323, 523 and 330) have all done around 100k and I never had any major or expensive issues.

The problem with them is they're not as good people think they are. While they're well made they are over engineered which causes issues when then they go wrong.

Also front wings are a service item because of rot.

Did these have sealed for life gear boxes?

Posted

Most BMWs of this era will have allegedly sealed for life gearboxes, a myth bought in to keep fleet managers happy along with 12k+ service intervals.

Anything with "for life" or "long life" in its name is suspect to me. Like those "indestructible" balls you buy for your dog which get decimated in 30 seconds.

I apply the same scepticism to body armour nowadays

Why do you wear body armor? Do you live in Liverpool?

worse. Bristol

'Kin ell mate. That place has students in it. But it's also quite good for shite spotting.
