Anyone remember this from Torstens Toss April this year? The tax was running out and I slung a note on it, got a call this evening asking me to fetch it, tax is running out again, MOT has finished and it needs work of an unknown nature bodily...anyway, my second Vauxhall, this time British and 1300cc, much more my style, maybe the Senator is on it's way out! Getting it tomorrow!

BEAUTIFUL!1300cc GR8 4 goin slow.I'd love to know where these all went. Though the bodycount was quite high between my mates in the nineties on these was quite high, most finished up in ditches or on their roofs. I had one, banana yellow 1.6L hatch on the X, bought it friday afternoon, friday night post closing time put it upside down into a field after speed exceeded talent. The 1600's are quite pokey, or they are when you're 17 and have driven nothing with more than 50bhp before. Great days.

That's excellent - handsome and practical. What more could you need? :)

I've always had a soft spot for these cars. Back in the mid nineties my mate Trev had a white '88 saloon SRI130, and we used to marshall with it on the Irish rally circuit. I've fond memories of how pokey it was down the country lanes......

I've been offered a very late one of these, a Commander hatchback. Should I be tempted?

Nice choice! My mate Dave had a 1984 1600L model. Bloody quick compared with the tat we all had back in the day. We replaced the cam twice as Dave never put oil in his motors and the brake pads every month, he was hard on brakes! One day he piled into the back of his Dads new Sierra GLS at traffic lights in Romford, writing both cars off. Great Days!

Another 'yes'. Though a commander wouldn't be very late, 1985 model year special, and very desirable among my peers back in the day - silver paint with red coachstripe, boot spoiler, and of course the black wheels with silver trim rings, which were the same as those fitted to plod-spec vauxhalls right through to about 1995, so instant kudos.

awesome, im back on the trail of 80's cars after stepping away for few weeks to let the market recover and prices to stablise, on a good note so real cheap stuff coming up..sadly where you get nice toyotas and vauxhalls in fact nearly everything all i get is dyanes and AX's, wanna swap....

Mum had a medium blue one of these about 10 years ago, got it off our relatives for a discounted sum. My cousin was fond of it as it had her initials in the reg plate. 1.6 I think it was. Sold it to a Butlins worker. Used to still see it about town for quite a while but then the sightings dried up. Probably long gone by now. ELT 466Y where are you now?I thought it it a bit naff at the time, even though I still liked old cars, back then mainly just 70s cars. I found the MkII Cav boring, there were too many around - not anymore! How ironic I should find myself piloting a Y reg car of my own, indeed the R9 is only about a month younger than mum's Cav was! Apparently the only thing was the steering was very heavy, especially around town which was what it was used for, although that could have just been mum!

Right dammit.Where the feck do you live?I am sooooo redundant (once told, it starts to fit) of late, and if not at work, always have time to spend helping do up cars and arguing about 80s 90s punk/new wave. That is, if i can get there cheaply.Yours sincerely,Sir Archibald Skint-Bollox of Cheam.
