Blue V5C -A Problem?

I acquired another old donkey on Thursday night and only realised later that I was given the main bit of an old blue V5, not one of the current red ones. I didn't get the car from the named keeper and was told it was a repossession, it was last taxed in 2007 but has a current MOT.

What I want to know is will it be straight forward when try to register and tax it next week? Someone has already signed the V5. Ta!

I had to do this with the Corrado last month. I filled out form V62 which is used to get a replacement V5 and then took it to the post office. As I had the green new keepers slip on the old blue V5 they waived the £25 replacement V5 fee and allowed me to tax it. The new V5C then turned up in the post a few weeks later.

So I'll have to pay £25 to register it? Will I be able to tax it at the same time?

Edit, I also have green bit. Thanks.

I used a circa 1985 DVLC registration document to transfer the Loch Tay Monster into my name no problem.

As an added bonus, someone with a different name to the keeper has initialled but not dated it. Plan is to pretend I haven't noticed.

I've sent a blue v5 away for both the cortina and my old low mileage polo, they just sent a red one back with the details I specified on the blue one.

Also the previous keeper of the cortina died, so I just put a squiggle in their signature box.
