Not much detail yet, but i think its a pre facelift P plate tdi hatch in silver, done about 90k and supposedly nice and fresh with a long test and wee bit of rent. Should be getting dropped of on saturday so will add some pics then. Will it be veg friendly?

Posted

Could be either. 75bhp ones have Lucas pumps, 90bhp have Der Krautpumpengeratmaschine von Bosch

Posted

Quite possibly, as it's not an HDi.

*awaits pics* I'd never kick a Xantia out of bed for farting.

Posted

If it's a TD, quite possibly Bosch pumped - look for the 'flying saucer' atop the pump.

The 75bhp 'SD' ones are mega rare, an emissions friendlier replacement for the 1.9D.

I'm very interested if you come to sell it.

Looks tidy, although you might want to try some T cut on that pink mark under the bumper......

Posted

That looks good, even the rear wheel appears vertical, one less unpleasant job to do. Bosch pump ready and waiting for veg - in this weather you could just about pour lard into the tank! (Don't, obviously... )

I love xud9 Xantias. I've had four. Very veg friendly as all the TDs had the Bosch pump as standard. But replace the o rings on the fuel filter housing and the fuel pump as they will leak on veg at the most inconvenient time.

Posted

Oh and 400 miles pretty much exactly before you have to change the fuel filter, always carry a spare and the 4mm Allen key!

Apologies for the shitty pics. But yesterday was pretty hectic. I also bought a non running porsche , i have no idea what is wrong with it, but i made a silly low offer and it was accepted, who would have thought cayennes were in shite price territory already. So, to raise some funds to pay for porsche diagnosis i will pass the xantia on, and it seems fair to offer it here before ebay etc. 450 buys it, if you want to know anything about it, lease call o78o3o19376. Car is located in aberdeenshire.

Any good for you, Lacquer Peel? It's even in the right country!

Kinkers: what's the script with the Cayenne and (if you don't mind me asking) how much did you pay for it mate?

Posted

One owner 55plate v6, so not my thing, however, lady round corner had it from new, went to it and it wouldnt start, somthing to do with ignition switch i think. Done 118k and very tidy, i bid her a grand for it.... Seemed worth ampunt at that, it was dragged away then and there before they changed their minds.

The owner was a mrs shakeshaft, much stifled chuckles whilst writing her cheque. ;)

A grand for a 55 plate Porsche? I knew they were shit but still?!!!

Sent from my Nokia 3310 using the force.

I don't think Kinker would accept a Fabia covered in veg stains as a swap for it. That's all I have to offer at the moment.

Posted

Holy shit! A Cayenne for a grand? I hope it's something like a loose wire or a fuse, that'd make it pretty hard to beat in the bargain terms.

Posted

It wont be...... But it has to be worth throwing a wee bit of money at it.

Posted

Sheesh 1000 quid it probably costs that for a headlamp .

I've driven one of those v 6 cayenne and they're piss weak but it's the vw engine so parts should be much less bum stingy than a v8 one.

Posted

Winner on the Gayenne. I hate the things but that's got to be a nice profit once it's fixed!

Posted

Fark me, vicar, that was a proper bargain!

Took the xantia home today, first proper drive, its lovely. I am off to see a chap about the sagging arse, although it seems to have self healed after its lay up.....

So, any takers, 89k. Mot next may, taxed end october 2 owners, and other than possible rear height issue, spot on, drove perfectly and every switch or button i pushed did as it was meant. £400
