Ah my little Rene lives on! Driver's seat like a half empty beanbag and less original bodywork than Cher, but he still did at least 70mpg. Possibly on account of how much metal had rusted away, now that I think about it...

It's been around... now in storage until I get round to sorting it.

Not done 70mpg whilst I've owned it - was the thermostat broken when you had it?

To be fair I've made an art out of teasing every last mpg out of cars, I average 66 in my S60 - well I did until it broke.

Dunno it may well have been - that'd account for the heater not working. I didn't notice any other thermostat related problems though. Other than the seat giving me backache I never had any problems with him.

The temperature gauge sits at the bottom all the time?

I've been driving it at 60mph on motorway and getting roughly 60mpg which I still think is excellent.

Ah no it wasn't doing that in the time I had it - took a while to rise as I recall but it got there. I think I got the last life out of him before the botched body repairs and general age caught up with him.

To give him his due I did 500 miles a week in him, which is more than the annual mileage for most of the last 15 years, and I was probably going *ahem* a little faster than 60 so it must have been a shock to the system. The fact he survived that is reason enough to put the work in, I'm just sad I didn't have the money or a place to do it. Fair brings a smile to my face to see he's got a good home :-)

Its done around 15000miles since you had it mrbuffs and been excellent bar a few small problems.

The only real issue is the sticky starter motor, which can be a bit annoying but always managed to get it going.

Once its running there's no stopping it though, just plods away.

Is the owner of that black one which ended up in the ditch last week on here?

Of course, He's even commented on the thread....

The black one is being stripped for spares to rebuild the green one, the roof is twisted and the rear is smashed. I technically own it now but just as a source of spares.

I tried to sell it in good condition for £400 and no one wanted it, so I doubt anyone would've wanted it smashed up.

Although its a shame its kinda handy you've now got the other one as a parts donor. Bloody useful.

A lot of the issues wouldn't of been getting fixed otherwise, as some parts you just can't get, but I have them now.

I'm amazed it still exists to be honest. Wish I'd had the budget to actually do anything to it at all.

Its my Datsun Bluebird, the light makes it look a different colour its actually green, awaiting rear trailing arm after being hit. :-(

Just asking.... but what does the ex-DW CX need and how much is wanted for it?

It needs the dash put back in and a good clean inside, I'm not sure what he wants for it. It has no tax or test and is worth very little at present. It's also in Kinross, Scotland so possibly too far from anyone who might want it.

I think it's just curiosity on my part really, that and working just round the corner from a Citroen specialist who is willing to give the Xantia any attention it might need... a CX is high on my want list, even if they do try and kill other respected* Rover piloting members of the AS forum.

Mother in law moog lives in Kinross. I put a new drive in for her 6months ago so have parking space. How little does one want for it and any ideas of what it would need for test?

I will say now that it is highly unlikely but I can but ponder

I'm probably the closest that would possibly want it but with no T&T I doubt it'd work logistically.

Why let no T&T stop you from collecting some shite? Day insurance and a test booked are all you need to drive the car legally. We recently did just that when collecting the Stanza from Whitby, We saw loads of police on the way back and still managed to get all the way back with no issues.

How much would anyone be willing to pay with it being fixed up and ready to go with tax and test?
