German chod rotted away?

Just back from our now annual German blitz. 2600 miles, 10 days and 1000 miles behind the wheel in 19 hours. I have no photo's of shite. I did look, and did see some nice "Youngtimers" but no actual shitters. None. I was Calibra spotting for a mate- 6 countries. 1 Calibra.

I did go back to Autostadt, and wish I hadn't bothered. The factory tour is no longer, some things were closed, and the place just looks tired. Some come down from the last time I was there about 6 years ago. There was a Harley meet in Hamburg when I was there, thousands of them, but I hate Harleys. I did spot a Dodge Coronet, and a new model Challenger, which sounded awesome.

Autostadt museum is decent though, with some cars that were not there last time. Apologies for posting some 6 figure cars on a three figure website.

The Volvo did fine, although has started running rough after the first start of the day. Diesel was much cheaper than petrol, which was a bonus, but fuel economy was a little dissapointing. Figures show the run from Fife to not far from Hamburg on the first day.

One word, leasing.

The germans are cottoning on to this stupid, uneconomical and unsustainable practice. The number of radio, tv and press adverts for leasing deals just keeps increasing, if its not leased stuff, then its a brand new super budget Dacia. Where I am the streets are crowded with unappetising looking and sounding Logans, Stepways, Sanderos and the hideous Lodgy.

Lack of older motors partly also due to the fact that petrol prices here are similarly horrendous to those in the UK.

That's the one based around a Citroen GS wankle rotary engine. You know, the one that never existed

Like the one parked next to it you mean, in the Ami wankel?

With my Wankel-nerd hat in place, the Ami is the M35, with a single rotor engine, it was the GS that was the Bi-rotor and it is a derivation of that twin rotor engine that is in the Van Veen.

I editideded it when I looked at my notes- I'm rusty with Wankels.

Not forgetting that Citroen also had a go at a Wankel engined 'copter but couldn't find anyone brave enough to fly it
