Overheating 205 Diesel. WCPBTC*??

Howdy'all,

 

I am in talks with myself regarding the purchase of this Azure beaut :-

Now then, * What could possibly be the cause* of this 205's temperature trouble?

Vendor fears head gasket..optimistic passer by said thermostat...

Are there 205 specific explanations for the overheating? and furthermore, would a Peugin (Peugeot Virgin) be able to rectify it's ills?  

I have nay experience of these vehicles at all, in fact, I don't know anyone who has... (bit of Mark & Lard for you there)

I intend to steal a viewing of aforementioned 205 tonight, would be happiest armed with a little info, or a lot, about it's viability.

get it sniff tested, that's usually fairly conclusive one way or another..........

Look for mayo in the condom mints isle.

Quick test: pop the expansion bottle cap off 30 seconds to a minute after a cold start. If there's a hiss, you have HG (or worse) issues. If not then you're likely OK. There should be no pressure build up until the engine gets warm.

It could have an intact heidgasket, but a shagged radiator thus it gets warm onb longer journeys.

If they're the same as the TDs then remove the expansion cap and keep a sharp eye on the water when the car is getting hotter. Tiny little bubbles are usually an early sign of HGF.

Alas, twas not to be for the 205 & me.

The emulsion of repulsion was the catalyst to flee.

 

It had a lot of promise though, which damn near turned my head;

Almost rot free, 4 good tyres & (fank fook) it wasn't Red.

 

It's bargain basement price tag, front leccy windows too.

I'm still amazed I left it there..what is a dork to do?
