I'll post a link on the Club forum. These are brilllliant fun and gaining a bit more interest, most probably since Garethj did a great write up on them somewhere here. Well made, galvanised and mechanically simple what with having a not vw/audi van engine at the wrong end, so someone who knows a bit about injuns could have mega fun for cheap. A porsche with Autoshite designed in.

Have you checked the fuel pump and/or relay as that was a problem with the one I had.

A couple of hours of this and we threw the towel in.

 

You gave up after only TWO hours???

It takes one screw to loosen at the end of the fuel rail to check whether there is fuel, and it takes one spark plug undoing to check whether there is a spark.

And it takes one test light to check whether there is an impulse at the injectors.

However, I'd start with checking whether the cold start valve is working. If it isn't, you have exactly the symptom you describe, it'll kick in for a second, then nothingness.

A temporary workaround for this is starting it with a can of easy start, or squirt petrol directly into the throttle body with an enema, while someone is operating the starter.

What on earth happened to the original engine to damage the crank? These things are pretty much bullet proof!
