well - here's a closet twingolover, but not for long !!! if you still have it by spring next year, I will take it from you, so long as you can deliver to Cornwall? or dorset, which is nearer than burkino facelift, but I would need nice foreign plates (i.e. what's on there already !) to drive it about in this land of noplod / no anprs farmers country lane we*t cuntree.

Having one already (from Wuvvum) makes it more appealing as dey both de same color, mon :)

Haha! Unlikely to be here in spring I'm afraid, and in terms of trailer delivery, Cornwall is almost as far away as Burkina Faso. And there'll be no plates with it either.

Would you not be better sticking it on LeBonCoin for some serious wedge? I'm constantly amazed at the price of old shit over there.

Probably, but I just don't have the time or inclination... it's my girlfriend's car and it's taking up valuable driveway space.

Are these worth MEGAFRANCS back in Frogland then?

It'd be a great project for a shiter with a French pad: Drive over here with a Mk1 Escort, then return in this and flog it.

Or a UK-based Francophile could do it the other way around. Wash, rinse, repeat. Make a lifestyle of it!

Nup. I thought about it but the numbers dont add up.

To register here will cost for the carte gris - I would guess 80 - 100 Euros, plus the controle technique, which is 50-odd for the test plus any work it may need, then it needs a certificate de conformite.....Renault used to do these for free but I think they have since cottoned on to the fact that every other manufacturer charges the legal maximum of 180 euros for it. Add in costs for fuel, ferry and food and its starting to get expensive when LeBonCoin has plenty within my department for sale ranging from 500 upwards, which are very probably rot-free due to climate.

Then there is the problem of driving it without number plates, as once John returns the German plates, its impossible to move without trailering it.

sorry.

Right, I'm back from ze Fatherland and Twingoid has been 'de-registered'.

Bump for a cheap Twingo...

I thought you couldn't find room for it until next year, lovejoy? Not sure about the best way to get it to you, either... technically, it may be possible to drive it down to Cornwall on the (de-registered) German plates if you arranged appropriate short-term insurance with a UK insurer.

Otherwise it would probably need trade plates. Or a trailer / A frame, but realistically you'd have to bring that up with you. Or arrange some sort of Autoshite trailer relay...

Now provisionally sold, will be heading north between xmas and new year...

Well done John !   it's not that I didn't have room  -  it's that I am now over 4000 miles away till next spring ...

Loll.....I think I might see if I can get the STNTL (Scottish Twingo Not That Large) to reform and declare Scotland the independent state of Oooopsthesteeringwheelisovertherethen. Who's in????

OK, I'm getting a bit concerned about this.

Charlie Croker (Stevie) wanted to pick the Twingo up between xmas and new year, and I agreed to hold onto the car until then for him.

I've sent him two messages asking him to get in touch about the Twingo, one just before xmas and one yesterday - both of these messages appear to have been read but I haven't had a response.

Is anyone in touch with him that can ask him what's going on?

The last message I sent was to ask him to get in touch even if he's changed his mind about the Twingo, it's a massive hassle not being able to plan my xmas as someone *might* be turning up from Edinburgh to collect a car.

Still no word from Charlie Croker. Hmph.

I can only imagine he's hanging over the edge of a cliff in the Alps with his £250 sliding further & further towards the back of the coach, so as far as I'm concerned the Twingo is BACK UP FOR GRABS.

Please form an orderly queue... :-)

If it doesn't sell this time I'm going to send it round the oval packed with kittens & nuns, then I'm going to set fire to it & cover it in white dog shit.

I want to buy this to do me while my XM is off the road being fettled..... however I can't afford it. Can I give you £100 and a back massage? (without happy ending I'm afraid)

Posted

Sod it, I'll chuck in a happy ending!

Posted

It's worth £100 over the bridge, Tim.

It would be a shame to scrap it though, so I'll keep your offer in mind if it comes to that.

Posted

Shit.

Whereabouts on this sceptres Isle is it, John........

I have to admit being a teeny bit interested in owning a Twingo.

On that basis, I just googled for 'Renault certificate of conformity' and lo and behold they want 100 knicker for one, plus 6 weeks lead time to produce it.

Posted

Alo John !   does this thing STILL have on a pair of German licence plates, or did you have to hand them in ??

Posted

Yep, it's in West Yorks.

It doesn't have number plates, we had to send them to the Verkehrsamt in Duisburg to get it de-registered. So it would need trailering or (possibly) A-framing with a trailerboard to move it to its new home.

KruJoe did mention the possibility of using his trailer for local-ish transportation though.

Well bought, N.Bickle!

Nobody swears on a for sale thread unless they've just realised they can't NOT buy the car.
