It was 1974 (along with local government reorganisation) when Barnsley (HE), Doncaster (DT) and Rotherham (ET) were added to Sheffield ((W), WA, WB, WE and WJ) as part of the new South Yorkshire registration system as well as former Bradford marks AK, KU, KW, KY, former East York's WF and former Stirling WG

Usually in England codes were kept in the same general area, but many of the underused Welsh & Scottish ones were reallocated to places in England.

At first glance I thought this was a Land Rover ready to be towed easily when the inevitable happens, but what it that on the end of the A frame?

1922 GN vitesse that's still in regular use today.

If only they had mounted the number plate half an inch higher up and the bolts would fit nicely in the hole of the B and 5.

Chap on extreme left of group - in felt hat and raincoat - is Alfred Neubauer (29 March 1891 – 22 August 1980) racing manager for Mercedes-Benz 1926 to 1955.

Part of the legendary Silver Arrows, although mentioning it these days will probably get me incarcerated for life as being a fascist by the woke wankers and Starmaer supporters

George Eyston's Thunderbolt - held the land speed record of 357.50 mph for a short time in the late 30's - on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

Twin Rolls Royce V12 aircraft engines -  each 36.5 litre supercharged engine had an individual output of 2,350 bhp - single driven rear axle.

Eyston himself is the chap in the glasses standing left of the car.

Despite a life of daring-do he died age 81 in 1979 - not killed like John Cobb and Donald Campbell who both risked the water speed record.
