I think this happened because of that annual govt campaign about drink driving and leaving the car at home at Christmas and 'take a bus instead'.

So they took a bus but were too pissed to recall their car was still on the driveway...

1954 apparently. The Commer Express van in the background would have been virtually new at the time.

Crossing Westminster Bridge going south - to the right in background is Old Scotland Yard. The other two buildings demolished and replaced by the new Portcullis House.

Kind of you, but I think another level of connection would have improved it. Marina's had a bust op, or something like that

Peace Hotel, Shanghai. The car is a Buick 8, Chiang Kai Shek rolled in one of these his was said to be the first Buick in China, US cars in general became very popular in China pre 1949. Nowadays (locally produced) Buicks are still popular there. Coincidence? Probably, as we all know Chiang Kai Shek led the revolution against the empire and was the  head honcho for years but after the second world war his nationalists lost to Mao, so he very much fell out of favour.

Saying that, they've restored his home in Nanjing and outside is his Buick...

With 12-litre flat fours mounted transversely amidships, the 1904 Gordon Bennett Wolseley ’beetles’ were 75mph cars, note the wire reinforcement of the wheel spokes.
