I have the "symphony" alpine oem unit in my ZT - which is a bit odd as I'm sure project drive had killed them off by then for a halfords type job .

There's also a period radio cassette in the cortina, which still works but chews tapes. Can't remember what it is. I quite fancy putting a mid 80s Capri one in - with the led display but still buttons and knobs. They are class

The wife's Gen1 Bmw MINI has a tape player, and a 6 disc changer as standard.  I have 'found' my old tapes, and I bet that if you change MODE to tape it will be playing side one of the Stone Roses, or Maybe Echo and the BunnyMen.

It's actually a really quality sound.

I grew up listening to Dark Side Of The Moon on an original '73 issue cassette, badly delaminating, through a £9 Saisho personal with a three-band equalizer. When I eventually got it on CD I hated it.

I wasn't used to what treble sounds like.

When i bought mine in 1993 i paid around £130 for it.

Comparitvely speaking they are quite cheap now.
