Ha ha, I'm glad you've had chance of a play, John. :D

I hope this stays within our community. My old man bought it as an ex-demo from K.T.Green's, Otley, and loved it. He especially enjoyed taking anyone who could be persuaded, out for a spin in it, and scaring them shitless.

Its not advertised anywhere else, I'll probably end up keeping it if no one on here is interested

Aye, you've plenty of space, you could stick it on a sorn for a bit. You may get the urge in a few months to get some of your money's worth out of it.

Just don't leave it parked for too long with the handbrake on, I've a feeling those back calipers may not like it. Or did you replace those, too?

Ive got a W reg Fozzer turbo s - Pretty awesome cars pull about 187 bhp

Go like shite of a stick when needed, loads of room when you drop the backs. Never really had any hassle with mine. Brilliant all round Tonka Toys.

GLWS looks rather fetching

Always wanted one of these and that's a bargain. Shame I've got no cash

Someone here buy this please, they're crackin motors and @ less than a £grand with that mileage its a steal, wish i needed another motor.

We've already got a 3.0 litre Outback and if you haven't driven a reasonably quick Scooby there is sod all that can keep with one when the weather turns damp, sure footed doesn't begin to cover it..it's not just the outright hooligan handling it's that they are probably the safest wheels you will ever drive on the road.

The only thing i'd suggest doing it might need doing is to get underneath and wire brush the subframes down and apply multiple coats of your chosen rust converter and then wax based underseal.

The bodies don't suffer but the subframes and suspensions do,

Once rust proofed get it LPG converted (nice big spare wheel carrier to take a torordal tank) with 'most important a flashlube kit' and you've got one of the fastest mid size estates capable of 20mpg @ 60ppl for about the same as the bare car should cost you at a dealer.

They might appear complicated and because the heads are tucked up against the chassis rails changing spark plugs and removing heads is a bastard, but they are bloody reliable and the cars are designed to be worked on not just manufactured, the hubs come out easy and the drive shafts dismantle simply, which is good cos the front inner CV joint boots are just above the exhaust manifolds and they will perish and split...relatively easy DIY if you have a hub puller, set of sockets and some circlip pliers.

I can add that this car had a fresh clutch fitted 18 months or two years since. It's good to go.

Hummanahummanahummana

These are one of the car itches I want to scratch at some point.

Also fulfills many criteria of my car shopping list for replacement for the soon-to-be-bridged Golof.

Estate - tick

4x4 - tick

Newish - tick

Lacking tinworm - tick.

More interesting than an Octavia - tick

MPG >40 - faiiilllll

Issue is my 70 mile daily commute along A-roads and congested town traffic.

Showed it to Ms_D&V and she didn't make disapproving noises either. Vital tick.

Need to go and do some man sums and work out if LPGing it would be cost effective. Also collection logistics from deepest Devon.

If it's still available in a couple of months when I have ready cash from the death of the Golof, and no-one else has made noises I'll be in contact.

I could possibly help in getting it part the way south on Shitefest weekend. I bet someone else might jump at the chance to blast it south towards you through deepest Welsh Wales :)

I'll also add that if anyone wishes to buy it, there's no mad panic for collection, it's not in the way here.

There's also a direct flight to Manchester from Exeter or Newquay - I'll quite happily pick you up from Manchester airport if that helps

If it helps to sway you have a look at filllpg website, you're well provided for in Devon with sensibly priced LPG outlets.

We bought the same age Outback last year and so good was it that we converted it to LPG about a month later, no regrets, it runs a treat on the stuff, its the 3.0 litre 6 pot boxer and does about 21 mpg generally running about, more on a run.

Cost us £1350 to get converted including an electronic flashlube kit installed, Forester should be cheaper seeing it's two cylinders less.

Always get a semi when i'm filling up either of our two LPG cars, warm fuzzy feeling not having me arse raped dry quite so hard by the fuckin taxman.

We took it to Austria in January this year, it did just short of 3000 miles in 8 days. During the trip out and the trip back, it ran continuously for nearly 24 hours each time with 3 of us sharing the driving, achieved 30mpg and didn't miss a beat.

Here's a pic of it covered in snow during the trip (it's had new rear springs since then, which is why it looks low in the pics)

About 10 years ago there were loads of these being knocked out from dealers with LPG kits installed (in the days before Subaru's boxer diesel), so I bet you could pick up a second hand set-up for DIY installation from a crashed one in a breaker's.

Can I register an interest on behalf of a work colleague please.

He's coming out of a 535 and lives in the down a track in the middle of nowhere with dogs so a hot subaru wagon is ticking his boxes.

It does sound mechanically spot-on.

Can I assume that, other than the front wings, none of the dings and dents have broken paint to the rusting stage?

His e39 is ex-Shetland so showing signs* of tin worm.

Interest registered ;-)

In terms of the damage, both front wings have an area of bubbling which will turn to rust at some point. There is a 4 inch scratch on one of the rear doors with a bit of superficial surface rust. Each of the 4 corners of the plastic bumpers have scuffs / scrapes. Other than that, there is nothing much beyond normal wear and tear

A thought, posed to any user on here of larger dimensions who may have driven one.

As a 6'5" 16st lump, am I going to fit?

I had designs on a LR S2a/ 110, but my legs simply don't fit between the seat and the dash.

 Well, the seller is the man you need to ask, though he's not quite that tall

Yep I'm 18 stone and 6' and there's plenty of room for me (I have the same problem driving an LR defender)

LR series and Defenders are ridiculously cramped in the cabs, especially the pick ups with your head jammed against the rear bulkhead, anyone of normal build has to open the door to wind the drivers window down.

How they managed to palm such a poor cab design off onto buyers for so many years is amazing, especially when you consider similarly sized Toyota industrial 4x4's have plenty of room for large blokes and yet (Sumo wrestlers excepted) the Japanese are smaller average build.

But for goodness sake bung an electronic  flashlube kit on if you do this, soft valves and seats and LPG don't mix well without something to cool/lube the valve seats.

Is the staffie aggressive? If it isn't I'm not interested.

There's still interest up here, to the extent that he's joined Autoshite.

He's currently dealing with Mongs on gumtree whilst disposing of his BMW.

Sorry i'd completely forgotton you'd registered an interest
