scruff Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Popped over to Sutton near Chatteris yesterday afternoon to look at the lots in Saturday's Cheffins vintage sale. It's always a good place to mooch about and today was no exception. http://www.cheffins.co.uk/catalogue/vintage/cambridge-vintage-sale-340-1 Started off in the tent. Signs, brochures, odd spares galore, and lots of bikes. Keys anyone...? Set of HS6s for a Sherpa. These are cool... Micrashed, brickwall, anonymous user and 4 others 7
scruff Posted April 26, 2014 Author Posted April 26, 2014 Right, outside... A proper Mini.. Spitfire and a Series 2A Landy... real painted lady that one... full of filler and grot. Interesting seating solution. This was superb. I am sure it was a rotbox but just look at it!! SPLENDID Perkins powered bus shite Squire_Dawson, anonymous user, Angrydicky and 8 others 11
scruff Posted April 26, 2014 Author Posted April 26, 2014 Check this Roller out. This Land Rover was a far better proposition. A pukka station wagon with original paint, trim etc. Covered in shite mind and unfortunate rear body damage. 100% PROPER though. GR8 4 POWERCUTS BMC chod wagon AEC artic, great for your grandad telling you how you were king of t' road in one of these and how that windscreen took ages to get used to (repeat ad infintium) Ford An older AEC Mercury Ace little Fordson Not Topliner Globetrotter XXL Unimog. Awesome I've tried convincing my wife to cash in on the S1 boom so I can get one of these but the appeal of doing trans-euro adventures in here is lost on her. anonymous user, Junkman, junkyarddog and 4 others 7
scruff Posted April 26, 2014 Author Posted April 26, 2014 A proper lorry. Cummins 250, Fuller 9 speed. Would love Barn find Austin!!! Just wants a oily rag resto Buggered Commer Strumpshaw Museum are selling off three steam engines including these pair of Fowler ploughing engines. Deep pockets required to sort these out. There's also a serious amount of tractors. Loads and loads Great afternoon out all round really Junkman, Twiggy, trigger and 4 others 7
Timewaster Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 This auction is right on my door step and yet I have never actually made it to one of the sales. Shame on me!
Twiggy Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 OOOH ! I do love auctions ! Thank you for all that scruff, it was fascinating - sadly a bit far from me. spike60 1
Pete-M Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 That Rolls got a proper twitch from me. Always wanted one just like that. brickwall 1
Ratdat Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 That Roller is lovely. I'd love to waft around in that.
meggersdog Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Looks like some interesting lots there.Thank's for sharing. pompei 1
mouseflakes Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Chatteris seems like the shite hub of the UK - always seems to be more interesting old grot near there than anywhere else.
panhard65 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 I used to go regularly to their sales and some amazing stuff. The sheer number of tractors they sell is incredible. Most get cut up on site and shipped to the far east. There is a guy there full time preparing them for export. I nearly bought a monet goydon scooter last time I was there. Luckily I now live a couple of hundred miles away otherwise I would be getting the credit card out for that roller
Angrydicky Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Wow, some amazing stuff there. I could get lost for hours wandering around that lot! Love the Hills For Sale plates, never seen any like that before. I'd love the Austin lorry or the Jag please, both are absolutely perfect. I wonder how many of the lots came from the same farm? Really interesting, I'd love to go to this one day.
anonymous user Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 I used to love going to auctions, but don't bother these days, lack of money being one factor, nowhere to put any junk purchased being another and the main one being that I don't like being crammed in with other people. So thank-you for putting the photos up to show me what I'm missing it saves me having to get off my backside and mix with humanity. For the shitefest brigade, there is the Peter Francis "Classic Car" auction on just outside Carmarthen on Saturday 17th. I usually go to the viewing as you'd be surprised what obscurities come out of the woodwork in West Wales, but the prices can be a bit silly. pompei 1
scruff Posted April 27, 2014 Author Posted April 27, 2014 Must admit AN, that's why I went on the viewing day!! It usually gets proper busy on the sale day. I went to view some steam spares for our Fowlers but they were in typical Cheffins style completely not what they said they were. Next collective sale is October.

Split_Pin Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 But of a bargain is that B Series ERF. These obviously haven't attracted the OSERF scene tax just yet, wont be long though. My old haulage company had a Rolls powered one and a Cummins L10 C series too, lovely motor. scruff 1
Wilko220 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I would LITERALLY spend all my time at shows like this (if I wasn't married). Great pics MrScruff - that Rolls in particular is a star spot. scruff 1
