This is all.

Apart from oil leaking horrendously, odd tyres front and rear, no inner arch liners, any amount of rattle from suspension and a variator rattling.

Oh, the a/con doesn't (yet) and the cruise also doesn't (yet).

Nice one.

Aircon needs recharge, had to be disconnected to swap exhaust manifold.

Cruise was working but battery disconnected so probably needs resetting, howto on alfa forum

Arch liners saved many an Italian car back in the day.  HPEs got them, and lived long and prospered.

Red, giz photars.

I'll be on it in t'morning - got chest/lung infection currently. uuuurrggghhhh

Using my own built in ANPR skills I detect an Alfa with an MOT. It's a belting car that, my son was daft to get rid of it, but his loss and all that.

At rest.

'Is your car? Pretty car....'     Yes, it is. Even covered in hailstone dents and slightly cracked front bumper. Lovely.

Nooo, doesn't drip at all, honest....

Yes, it does. Like a Alfa with a spurious washer and a mangled sump plug. See the Oem Quality reflector replacement? I know, hard to see the difference isn't it.

Excellent!

I also haz teh skill and knew what car you were alluding to.

So now I have cruise. having actually connected clutch switch back up. And it 'functions'. Lovely.

Gentlemen - what replacement sump was fitted to this vehicle?  Because a 1.6 sump washer day fit doe it.

I'd like it to stop gobbing it's NEW oil all over my drive.

We didn't fit one, the RAC fella that came to pick it up for Dave put a washer on it, iirc.

Right. Hmm. New genuine Alfa-Romeo washer doesn't fit @ £3.50 each. Lovely.

Anyone now a decent breaker/source of bits for these?

Posted

slightly off topic, but how does the 1.6 drive?

i have recently been roped in as mechanic for my brother in law's saxo grass track car, and the only way i can be excused the pit lane trauma is to build and race my own car.

supposedly non contact formula with 1.6l fwd or 1.8l rwd engine limits and the 147 seems to fit the bill

Chadwicks, Broughton MIlls Rd, Bretton, Nr Chester a very good place to ask.

Two versions - the 105 and the 120. 120 goes brrrrrm bbrrrmm braaaaammmmmmmmmmm. it's quick, willing, hardly any flat spots (relatively) and pulls like the clappers when on cam. Ace gearbox (ratios)  - change is a bit worn on 'mine'. Am half tempted to gut it and take it AutoSolo-ing. Or just hoon around in it.

If you're near Bewdley come and have a go. I might take it to Shitefest, but will probably take the 2.4 Fronterror as I can sleep in teh back maxi-style and the drive will be slow. The Alfa is far too much fun to enjoy on twisty Welsh road...oh, wait.....bugger....

thanks for the offer of a drive red5 but i am in sunny essex :-(

have you seen a 105hp in the wild? my brief research seems to suggest it was never sold here, but there is not much info either way.

the gearchange plate under the battery sounds like the issue with gearchanges

congrats on the fresh mot ;-)

Yay. Aircon recharged and all Dual-zoned up. She's a thing of beauty.

So, Everything electrical works. Blatantly not a Italian car at all.

No, it seems not many, or no 105's kicking around. Filthy, low-powered rubbish obviously.

The red 147 is on its travels again.  red5 kindly dropped it off at Mutha 'n' Fatha BV's in Brummagem.  My brother, an Hippy, will be collecting it tomorrow and using it for his daily commute from/to Darlo to/from Newcastle, and/or for giving lifts in to Goth chicks.  I gave it an Italian tune up this morning, and very fine it is too - nippy, handly, grippy, stoppy, makes a cool noise, and all working.

Also a quick Romanian "you want MagicTree, boss?" valet service, and good to go.

The car is all faded and dinged at the front, as though parked for ages in the sun and also as though it had followed a gritter lorry at high speed - there are little tiny dings all over bonnet and roof (hailstones, you say?  Fook).  The rear half is shiny and spick.

Looks a bit slabby in photos but in real life is dainty and neat and small.   Pretty wheels.    Tyres a mixed bag but not dire.

The gear change does indeed have some play in it, and you need to get yer clutch foot right down or it won't change  (the clutch bites early as you lift yer foot) but once you get used to the gearchange it's fine.    Molto rorty.  Verdict:  little red Italian sports car, pretty much, or at least as near as dammit.   Top shed.
